Handover days are always a little difficult for us, but also probably the most rewarding.

The moment we saw Eddie running around everywhere, we knew all the decisions we made were worth it. 🤍

• The clients wanted a modern mid-century inspired home, so we focused on opening up spaces, connecting indoor and outdoor areas, and making sure every area felt connected.

• We expanded spaces, kept the landscaped areas open, and even chose softer outdoor flooring because it's better for Eddie.

Seeing it all finally come together is always such a special feeling. The team put so much into this project, so while we’re definitely a little sad saying goodbye, we’re also really excited about everything already in the works and everything still to come .

Handover days are always a little difficult for us, but also probably the most rewarding. The moment we saw Eddie running around everywhere, we knew all the decisions we made were worth it.

When we first started out, we thought that if the design was good enough, the project would work out. Over time, we realised projects are a lot more complicated than that. Sometimes the hardest part is knowing when to keep pushing through and when something just isn’t working for the people involved anymore.

Stepping away from projects is never a quick decision, and it’s rarely about one moment either. Usually, it’s a buildup of small things that slowly affect the process for everyone involved. Looking back, some of our biggest lessons came from understanding that good projects need more than good design; they need trust, communication, and people who can move through the process together.

This is one of those kitchen islands where you keep noticing new things the longer you look at it. It’s not just about features, it’s about how everything still feels so clean even with so much happening. This one from Ernesto Meda really makes you rethink how a kitchen can work.

What we really loved is how practical everything feels without looking complicated. The surface is made for proper everyday use, not just for show. You can see the cooktop and the dishwasher are hidden away, but they’re super simple to use. The dishwasher opens with just a touch, which is honestly so convenient. There’s also sliding storage that opens up when you need it and shuts away when you don’t, so everything stays neat without trying too hard.

Most homes have that one extra room that slowly turns into everything, a place to sit, unwind, spend time together, or even host someone for a night. That’s what a multipurpose room really becomes. We’ve been working on this home in Al Furjan for a while now, and here’s what we did for this space:

1. The main wall is fully panelled in wood, but it also hides storage within it, so everything can be tucked away without the room feeling busy.

2. We’ve added a small rock climbing wall on one side, so it’s not just a sitting room, it gives the space something more active and fun, especially for kids or just to break the routine

3. The sofa doubles up as a bed, so it can easily turn into a guest room when needed, without having to create a separate setup.

4. There’s an attached bathroom as well, so if someone’s staying over or using the space for longer, everything they need is right here.

After 17 years of doing this, one thing we’ve really realised is that while we may look at homes through a designers lens, for our clients, this is their everyday life.

For most people, this is one of the biggest financial decisions they’ll ever make, and studies actually show that home construction and renovation are among the most stressful life events for homeowners.

Which makes sense, because every decision affects how they’re going to live every single day after the project is done.

Once we understood that better, the way we communicated with clients changed completely. We gave simpler explanations, clearer updates, fewer but stronger recommendations, all of it made a huge difference not just to the client experience, but to how smoothly projects ran overall.

“We’ve been working on this home in the Lakes for a while now, and this is the son’s bedroom. Here’s what we did:

- We went with wood veneers along with blues and whites. The headboard wall has this subtle sailboat pattern with panel moulding around it, so it adds detail and depth.

- The wardrobe and study are part of the same setup. The wardrobe uses cane panels, which help break the solid look of shutters and add a bit of texture. The study is kept simple with open shelves and lighting, so everything you need is visible and within reach.

- The washroom is a mix of tiles on the walls and a patterned floort. Storage is built into the vanity and niche, so daily use is easy without things lying around.

We’ve got multiple projects going on at the same time, and all of them are at completely different stages. Some are still in the initial stage, some are somewhere in the middle, and some are almost done. It’s a lot of site time, a lot of back and forth, and honestly, a lot happening all at once.

Running a business together isn’t about doing everything side by side. It’s about knowing when to step in, when to take the lead, and when to give each other space.
