„Ist das ein echter Wiehler Gobelin?“

Diese Frage erreicht uns immer wieder. Viele unserer Kundinnen und Kunden besitzen große, liebevoll aufgebaute Gobelin-Sammlungen. Manche Wiehler Gobelins wurden über Generationen in der Familie bewahrt und weitergegeben. Andere wurden als fertige, schön gerahmte Gobelins gesammelt.

Anhand eines Fotos lässt sich manchmal sofort beurteilen, ob es ein Wiehler Gobelin ist – und manchmal ist es nicht so einfach.

Das hat auch mit der besonderen Geschichte von Wiehler Gobelin zu tun. Wiehler gibt es seit mehr als 130 Jahren. In dieser langen Zeit entstanden viele Motive, Pläne und Sticksets. Die Motive wurden gesammelt, weitergegeben – und auch vielfach nachgeahmt und kopiert.

Dabei war für Wiehler immer nicht nur das Motiv wichtig, sondern auch die besondere Farbgestaltung. Zu den Sticksets gehörten genaue Farbvorgaben und fein abgestimmte Schattierungen. Ob ein Gobelin nach diesen originalen Wiehler-Vorgaben gearbeitet wurde, ist erkennbar.
Gleichzeitig wissen wir: Viele Menschen haben im Laufe der Jahre auch mit anderen Garnen, Farben oder Plänen gearbeitet.

Jeder Gobelin trägt die Handschrift der Person, die ihn gestickt oder geschaffen hat. Wer jedoch nach einem originalen Wiehler-Stickplan und mit den vorgesehenen Farben arbeitet, schafft einen Wiehler Gobelin so, wie er von Wiehler gedacht war.

Heute zeigen wir einen Teil einer wunderschönen Kundensammlung. Die Bilder wurden uns freundlicherweise von zur Verfügung gestellt und zur Veröffentlichung freigegeben. Herzlichen Dank dafür! Experten haben aber 2 nicht originale Wiehler erkannt!

Das Archiv von Wiehler ist groß, und manche Motive sind heute besonders rar.

Hoy preparo un paquete para Chile.

Y mientras aquí preparo los Gobelins de Wiehler, vuelven a mi memoria recuerdos muy bonitos de este país.

Todo esto tiene que ver con AFS. AFS lleva a estudiantes al extranjero para que vivan durante un año con una familia, asistan al colegio y aprendan un nuevo idioma.

Yo recibo en Austria a estudiantes que quieren aprender alemán. En 2022, una chica de Chile, de Coquimbo, vivió durante un año en mi familia y asistió aquí a un colegio.

Con mi hija siempre visito a mis estudiantes de intercambio al año siguiente en su país. Por eso, a veces nuestros planes de vacaciones ya están un poco definidos — pero de una manera muy bonita.

Así fue como también estuve en Chile con mi hija y un auto arrendado, para visitar a nuestra estudiante de intercambio y a su familia.

Estuvimos en Santiago de Chile, en Viña del Mar y Valparaíso, recorrimos la costa hacia Coquimbo y La Serena, fuimos al Valle de Elqui, vimos pingüinos en Isla Cachagua y montamos a caballo en los Andes.

Había mucho más por descubrir, pero el tiempo fue demasiado corto — como tantas veces pasa en un viaje. Quedó un recuerdo muy lindo.

Y en septiembre llega nuestro próximo capítulo: recibiremos a una nueva estudiante, esta vez de Letonia.

Pero mientras preparo este paquete, no solo pienso en el viaje, sino también en el arte textil chileno.
