There is a reason some rooms feel complete before a single piece of furniture enters them.
Look up.
Ceiling roses, cornices, painted decoration, vaulting, beams — architecture once treated the space above us as part of the room, not simply its lid.
What interests me is not recreating the past.
It is asking what these interiors understood about proportion, rhythm and visual hierarchy that we can still learn from today.
Sometimes the most successful fusion of old and new begins by recognising what the old already does exceptionally well.
