yet another gendai gem being sold.

in polish, shirasaya and papers.

this smith studied under Mizta seijiro Kunishige and with the outbreak of war worked under Wantanabe Kanaenaga. this smith won many awards. This sword recived NBTHK Kicho in 1979 which is very very early for a gendai smith to get that much attention, so it possible this sword may have won awards but i dont know for sure as it needs more reseach. below is the awards i found he won, this smith is rated as HIGH GRADE which is above the average yasukuni smith as there MED-HIGH.

This blade in my opinion is a good example of a aoe yamashiro piece as the hada is ko itame over chu suguha with plenty of subtle activity in the hamon. sadly my photos dont show enought but the polish is stunning with extremely crisp lines.

Nagasa is 66.9cm

1939 gold prize Zenkoku Hami Kiyoshinkai "national blade compatition to determine sharpness"

1941 Kaigun Daijin sho "secretary of the navy award"

1942 1sr place Rikugun Daijin sho seki "minister of the army award" and 3 consecutive first places in Saku-to gijutsu happyo-kai " sword making techniques presentation.
