Feature lighting is about so much more than the light itself.
At MCID, we have been exploring feature lighting for a few of our projects, and while each fitting is quite different, there's a common design language connecting them.
We're considering shape, scale, materials and colour, but also how each piece interacts with the surrounding architecture and finishes.
How does it look when it's switched off? What happens when it's illuminated? Does it cast beautiful shadows, introduce texture or create an unexpected sculptural moment?
And perhaps most importantly, how does it relate to the other lighting selections throughout the home?
We are often looking at balancing a calm, refined interior with moments of personality and sculptural interest. We want lighting to feel collected and considered, rather than overly matched.
Because creating a cohesive home doesn't mean everything needs to look the same.
It's about finding those subtle connections that make everything feel like it belongs.
