A few little jars in progress.

These were thrown as an enclosed form and the lid cut off once the clay had dried to leather hard. They started off as my response to the weekly throwing challenge I’ve been doing with Cilla Russell and Heidi Cooper Smith I’ve quite enjoyed making these!

I’m making a few larger porcelain vases for this year’s Floralia exhibition at .gallery

I haven’t decided what design to illustrate on this yet but I’ve been inspired by the birds in my backyard whose morning chorus has been my wake up alarm lately.

Rather than throwing one single piece, I wanted to work on assembling pieces together. For the technical challenge and also because it allows be to make something larger. So here I’ve thrown 2 x 4kg bowls using Clayworks Cool Ice porcelain made by (sooo lovely to throw with and a great recommendation if you’ve been wanting to try throwing with porcelain). I’ve then trimmed both bowls, scored and brushed slip on the rims. The true test comes when putting them together as I’m never sure how closely they’ll fit. I’m pretty happy and relieved this time!
