Piece 2: The Aviary Series.

Scaly-Breasted Munia
Scientific Name: Lonchura punctulata

A delicate Scaly-Breasted Munia skeleton, also known as the Nutmeg Mannikin or Spice Finch, is carefully preserved beneath a glass dome amongst soft mosses, fern fronds, a weathered branch, and scattered juniper berries.

Named for the aromatic berry nestled throughout the scene, Juniper evokes the feeling of a quiet woodland sanctuary, where tiny birds perch unseen amongst the undergrowth and the forest floor holds its own small treasures.

As the second piece within The Aviary series, Juniper continues a collection inspired by herbs, spices, and the subtle beauty of nature's smallest songbirds. A quiet nod to the bird's alternative common name, the use of juniper berries further ties the piece to the language of spice and botanical lore.
