Stranger Tides Art

Stranger Tides Art Creating distinctive mixed-media art inspired by coastal life, wildlife, and mechanical design. Handcrafted in Beachmere, Queensland.

I build mechanical fish sculptures inspired by fishing, boats, and time around the water. Each piece is made by hand in the shed using reclaimed metal, timber, and old machinery parts. Built for sheds, man caves, and people who love fish as much as the catch itself.

I’m very excited to be the feature artist for the Stranger Things exhibition at The Churn Room in Dayboro. ❤️

It’s been wonderful seeing my strange little collection of recycled metal creatures come together in the Mezzanine Gallery, and even better seeing people stop, look closely, and discover all the tiny pieces hidden within them.

A huge thank you to The Churn Room for featuring my work and for supporting local artists.

If you’re in Dayboro, pop upstairs and have a look. You might even find one that needs to come home with you. 😊

Introducing Megan Leahy, our feature artist for Stranger Things exhibition.

"Megan is a contemporary mixed-media artist whose work draws inspiration from coastal living, reclaimed materials, and the unexpected beauty found in discarded objects. Working primarily with recycled metals, she transforms raw industrial textures into sculptural artworks filled with movement, character, and emotion.

With a strong passion for creativity, texture, and organic form, Megan creates pieces that balance spontaneity with intention. Her work invites viewers to look closer, discovering detail within every curve, layer, and fragment. Each piece carries its own personality.

Megan continues to explore new ideas and techniques through her evolving artistic practice. Adding to the character of each creation, many of her sculptures are given playful mock-Latin names, combining humour with the imagined species and personality of the piece. Every discarded object is reimagined into artwork that sparks curiosity, conversation and connection.

Her creations celebrate reinvention and resilience, proving that beauty and darkness can emerge from even the most unexpected places."

Megan's artworks are proving popular - all the little pieces that have been carefully positioned to create these incredible undersea mechanical masterpieces can have you losing time gazing at them!

Don't miss your chance to see these for yourselves, and perhaps fall in love and add one to your collection.

Every flock needs a bin chicken. 🤍

My latest creation is a little tribute to one of Australia’s most recognisable characters, recreated from recycled metal, old tools and all sorts of bits and pieces that have found a completely new purpose.
