I'm Nurdan, the hands and the mind behind P for Pottery!

I am a teacher and a digital designer who has a lifelong passion for crafting! From a young age, I enjoyed making things by hand and became skilled in quilting, sewing, embroidery, and various crafts. I discovered clay while studying in Turkey, but it wasn't until 2016 when my family and I relocated to Buenos Aires that I had a chance to e

xplore this medium through several wheel-throwing and hand-building workshops. I love both wheel throwing and the slow process of hand-building. From bud vases to jugs, bowls, and wall hangings, I create a diverse range of pieces in small batches. I craft each one with love, thought, and dedication. Unloading my kiln brings me a mix of awe and nerves, marking the culmination of each making journey.

The ceiling looks like a mine field and there is still lots of work to do but…the first four wheels have just arrived!! The next 12 are on their way soon + the kiln! I am raising my cuppa for this 😆🙌

I made this beautiful blade duo with blade set. I love how the cups are matching, tho unintentionally, and complementing the set. The set sold long ago and I regretted I didn’t take any photos of them. Luckily, I had taken a video of my stall the day I sold them. A quick screenshot later, AI put them together nicely for me (and kept the price tag too) ☺️ Slide left to see the screenshot. Do you think AI changed it much?

Another bud vase this time with ironstone clay. Glazed with ‘s copper red glaze, fired in reduction. Second and third images have the same AI prompt to change the background as the vase in my previous post. It is amazing how different the same glaze looks on different clay bodies 🫶 Which bud vase do you prefer; the porcelain or this one?

I am curious to hear your thoughts on using AI on product photos to change the background, adding props, etc. The first photo, taken with my IPhone, not a great one but not too bad either, features one of the porcelain bud vases I made at studio on a marble paper backdrop. Its gorgeous red streaks come from copper glaze. The next two photos have AI backgrounds with a very generic prompt: replace the background with something that will suite the vase better. Do you think the vase looks fake in those photos? Do you like them? Let me know in the poll.

I didn’t touch clay since before Christmas; took a long break. It was sooo good to be back at ‘s studio today 🫶🙏
