I’m 10 days into a solo Japan trip, with lots of planned and unplanned meet up’s with excellent craft loving women. I’ve spent time on tour with Kylie &Tiff , gallery hopped with with and and visited Shigaraki with .taylor_ceramics. All very fine ceramics people to spend Japan time with.

I’m noticing the small details, timber and natural materials, the beautifully made and the small that is in such contrast to our oversized normal.

It’s the details I want to take home with me. The things that don’t demand attention yet are irresistible. That attention to the finest detail. I will collate some of the outstanding ceramics and art for my next reel.

I’ve got another 10 days to go including a workshop with in Tajimi thanks to

Back at the wheel today.

The first thing on the making list are my mostly stacking cups.

Back in the 70’s my mum drank her Nescafé instant in a mass produced stacking cup.
These are a nod to those cups.

Fortunately we moved on. And being individually thrown by me, I’m calling them ‘mostly’ stacking. Mostly they do. And always they are great for coffee. Even instant. Maybe.

These will be for a shop update sometime soon.

Kiln unpacking is one of my fave parts of ceramics.

This one was lots of cups and bowls of all sizes. Most were for the and some for a special order. I’ve got a few aside for an online shop update after my next firing, which will be mostly for online. I’m aiming for early June.

I’m still making for that so if there is something you think I should be making more of let me know. Of course there will be cups and vases. Always.

Getting ready for a firing soon with lots of new work after being away on the art residency.

It was a mark making on raw pots day today. Lots of wiggly lines.
