One Last Chance to Play ✨

First time running a competition like this, and it’s been a fun one to figure out. Tomorrow (Friday) is the last day to Play with Clay at MOA and pop a sea-inspired creation into the running.

From there, the whole display heads over to the Our Throsby Seafood Festival, where you can still Play with Clay and enter on the day. Winner announced at 4pm.

A little inspiration ahead of next week ✨

These are just some of the beautiful pieces past painters have created during a Paint Your Piece studio session at Grounded By Designs. Every single one made by hand, at their own pace, with no experience needed.

Next Tuesday 16 June we are bringing Paint Your Piece to the Gen Collective community for an evening of ceramics, mulled w**e and good company at MOA & co in Carrington.

Choose a handmade ceramic dish, pick up a brush and make it your own. Your piece will be glazed and fired and ready to collect within two weeks.

Most of us have tried to meditate. And most of us have felt our mind wander within the first 30 seconds.

Here’s why that happens, and why using your hands can change everything.

When your hands are engaged in something tactile, your nervous system has an anchor. Instead of trying to force your mind to be still, you give it something to follow. The texture of the clay. The pressure of your fingers. The simple rhythm of shaping something.

It’s the same reason people find calm in gardening, kneading dough, or knitting. The hands quiet the mind in a way that sitting still simply can’t for everyone.

At Present Hands, we use clay as that anchor, combined with gentle breathwork and mindfulness guidance from Bron of BronTee Meditation.

It’s not about making something perfect. It’s about what happens to you in the making of it.
