There’s buying a gift… and then there’s making one. 🥰🧵

Over the years, I’ve made so many gifts for the people I love. Not because it’s necessarily easier (spoiler: it usually isn’t 😂), and definitely not because it’s quicker.

It’s because handmade gifts have a little something extra tucked inside them.

They hold the hours spent choosing the perfect fabric, colours or design. The late-night “I’ll just finish this one bit…” that somehow becomes midnight. The unpicking, redoing, changing my mind, and occasionally wondering why on earth I didn’t just go to the shops. 🤣

But mostly, they hold time, thought and love.

A handmade gift might not have the same kind of price tag as something bought from a store — but its value was never really about the price.

It’s a little piece of someone, made especially for you. ❤️

And I think that makes it pretty special.

Sometimes the smallest pieces hold the biggest memories. 🤍

A favourite little outfit doesn’t have to stay tucked away in a drawer. It can be transformed into something special — a keepsake for Dad, Grandad, or someone you love.

For this one, I was lucky enough to have fabric left over from pieces I’d already made for my grandson, so no precious outfits were harmed! 🥰 But the same idea can give a much-loved, outgrown outfit a beautiful new life.

🧡 🎶 Latest custom order 🎶🧡

Matt and I just love answering the calls from locals, via our neighbourhood pages, for custom-made items.

The CALL for custom music stands came out from a beautiful lady in my area, who goes and sings for Seniors in nursing homes with a friend. I absolutely love that they do this, and was honoured to create this banner for them to put onto their music stand.

I've never actually created a music stand before, but as a musician, I was well aware of how they work and have seen many in my 50+ years. I wanted to make this one extra special, so added custom embroidery, with my interpretation of this beautiful duo's logo, along with some super special fringing to frame this piece perfectly.

The handover for this little item was met with so much love. I even got to meet the sweetest puppy dog… Twice. She sure is a little handful, but so cute (the puppy). 🐶 I'm sure that, as she settles into her forever home, she will become more calm and a constant companion for her beautiful family.

From the bottom of my heart… Thank you for giving me the opportunity to create this.

🧵 A little bit about me…

I’ve been sewing for 40+ years, which apparently means I’ve also been unpicking for 40+ years. 😂✂️

It started with hand-sewing clothes for my dolls, moved on to sewing machines, and somewhere along the way turned into a lifelong love of making, creating and figuring out “I wonder if I could make that?” 💕

I’m still learning. Still trying new things. Still making mistakes. And there is nearly ALWAYS another project waiting in the wings. 😜

These days I’m trying to embrace doing a little less, but doing it better… although my creative brain doesn’t always get that memo. 😂

So if you’re learning something new, starting again, or your latest creation hasn’t quite gone to plan — keep going. Every wonky seam, broken thread and date with the unpicker is part of becoming better at what you love. 🪡✨

And most importantly… make things that make you happy. 🥰
