A proposal months in the making 💍🤍

The plan was put in place in Japan a few months before, and the proposal itself happened at the JW Marriott Gold Coast. It was romantic and sweet. White roses and baby’s breath, fairy lights and, of course, the ring.

She said yes, and I collected the flowers the following day. Here are a few pics of their awesome story 👇

Not every project needs to be done by me, and I love that 💛

This customer is making his own river table resin piece from the wedding table flowers, and asked me to take care of the drying. That's the part that can make or break a resin project, because flowers need to be completely dry, or moisture can cause browning and cloudiness once they're set.

The flowers were such a gorgeous palette: yellows, soft creams and warm coffee tones.

I'm excited to see what becomes of these.

Amelia and Alex's finished frame 🌿

You'll notice the colours have softened. The bright pink protea has dried to a dusty mauve, and the reds have warmed to rust. Natives do this so beautifully, and I think it gives the piece an earthy, timeless feel.

And sitting right beside it, Alex's buttonhole. Both of them, together in one frame 🤍

Ever wondered how flowers end up looking like this? Let's rewind ⏪

1️⃣ The finished piece, arranged under glass on a soft bed of moss.
2️⃣ Before that, each bloom was placed into silica and positioned to keep its shape.
3️⃣ And this is where it all started, the fresh flowers on the day they arrived.

The colours deepen and soften a little as they dry. That's real flowers doing their thing, and I think it's part of the charm 🌸

Not everyone gets why you’d keep the flowers. And that’s ok 🤷‍♀️. But if you’re the one who held them, wore them or said goodbye with them, you get it.

This little dome is full of that magic: soft orange roses pincushion, wax flower, daisies and baby’s breath, each one dried in silica and arranged on a bed of moss.

Rubini's wedding garland, now glowing ❤️

The deep red roses and baby's breath she wore on her wedding day, dried and set in a crystal-clear resin arch.

On its timber lamp base it lights up beautifully, and off the base it's just as stunning on its own.

This one made me smile 💛

Her flowers had a big day and arrived pretty tired, with stressed petals, some bruising and a few that didn't make it. I wasn't sure how much I could save.

But look at her now. Ranunculus, daffodils, delphinium and snapdragons, all carefully dried and rebuilt into her bouquet shape.

This is a 40 x 40cm shadowbox frame, a little smaller than our usual, and just perfect for a sweet, petite bouquet like this one 🤍

Is that sand? I get asked this a lot! It's actually silica gel, a fine crystal that gently draws the moisture out of each flower while supporting every petal, so it dries in its natural 3D shape.

Before: fresh ranunculus straight from her bouquet, set face-up one by one.
After: dried and placed back into her frame, every layer still there.

The colours soften a little as they dry, which I think gives them that lovely vintage warmth. Real flowers, real keepsake 💐

The bouquet Adeleena carried down the aisle 👰‍♀️ → the bouquet she gets to keep looking at 🖼️

Every flower was dried by hand in silica, then recreated in the shape of her original bouquet, ribbon wrap and stems and all. Real flowers will soften and change gently over the years. That's part of their charm, and part of what makes it hers.
