Straight out of the silica sand and this is the moment I hold my breath. For two reasons; at this stage the flowers are at their most fragile, a wrong move and a petal can crumble. The other, they're just beautiful and I don't know what treasures will be unearthed.

But look at the 3D form and the colour. This is what makes silica gel preservation so good - see that tiny tulip? It looks exactly as it did when it went in. Some flowers just take to the sand perfectly and this one nailed it.

This bouquet had it all - all the colours and an amazing line up of blooms - roses, poppies, tulips and lisianthus. Stand out is always the delphiniums - this tray full of blue and lilac delphiniums is ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™. These little blue blooms are so delicate but they'll dry perfectly, they're the kind of flower that fills in all the gaps in a frame and ties everything together. You don't always notice them at first glance but without them the piece wouldn't be the same.

POV: when you see your bouquet turned into art ๐Ÿ˜

Dinithiโ€™s wedding flowers, preserved in silica sand and framed. Loved laying this one out in a linear style โ€” flowers set in a row so every bloom gets its own spotlight.

Pale pink and cream roses, lisianthus, phalaenopsis orchids and trailing amaranthus.

Dinithi opted for our linear framing option to display her bouquet after preservation. I love the creative and artistic dimension this adds to your flowers.

This is Dinithi's gorgeous bouquet - pale pink and cream roses, lisianthus, phalaenopsis orchids, trailing dried amaranthus and white ruscus leaves. So pretty and elegant. As usual we placed these in silica sand and 5 weeks later they dried perfectly for us to place in a frame.

I love the intricate fibres of the protea centre and layers you often don't notice when the flower is fresh. The eucalyptus kept its green, the pampas held its softness, and the wax flower fills in all the little gaps perfectly.

This one honestly has become one of my favourite finished pieces. I loved creating it from start to finish, it just came together ๐ŸŒฟ

Thanks to Cherish and her mum Bek, for trusting me to create their preservation artwork.

Natives preservation is one at scale - usually a tray can fit about half a bouquet of flowers. Here the tray only takes two proteas. This one will make a great focal point for the artwork and I wanted to give it room to dry thoroughly.

Air drying these would have worked too, but I wanted to try to get some of the lighter colouring to stay and silica works faster.

This week's preservation highlight is Cherish's native bouquet. King proteas, eucalyptus, pampas grass, wax flower, and ranunculus โ€” earthy, wild, and completely stunning.

I haven't had a native bouquet come through in quite a while and they're very different to work with. Whilst sturdier and easier to dry, the flowers are on a much larger scale.

I enjoyed this one. A lot. The outcome has become one of my favourites ๐ŸŒฟ
