🍋 From orchard to body cream...

After harvesting our lemons, one of the trees needed a very hard winter prune. Rather than sending the leaves and twigs to the compost pile, we decided to experiment with something a little different.

Inspired by the upcoming KV Citrus Fest, we distilled the fresh prunings to create a beautiful petitgrain hydrosol and essential oil.

The leaves and branches had to be chopped down to fit inside the still (sadly I forgot to film that part!), but the results were worth the effort. The hydrosol was absolutely sensational — fresh, green, citrusy and incredibly aromatic. The essential oil was a stunning blue-green colour, although the yield was tiny at just 0.5g.

Not wanting to waste a single drop, I incorporated the freshly distilled hydrosol into a test batch of a nourishing Citrus Body Cream, which I'll be demonstrating at this year's KV Citrus Fest.

It's a wonderful reminder that sometimes the most beautiful ingredients can come from materials that might otherwise be overlooked.

We're excited to be joining this wonderful celebration of all things citrus and would love to see you there.

During the festival, I'll be sharing how to create a luxurious botanical body cream featuring beautiful citrus ingredients, while Andy will be firing up our traditional copper still and demonstrating the art of citrus distillation.

Every fragrance begins with a story.

This custom commission started with a brief — a feeling, an idea, a vision of something that could not be found on a shelf.

From the first fragrance strips and formula notes, to selecting the natural ingredients that would become the heart, soul and character of this scent… each element was carefully considered.

The top, heart and base notes were brought together slowly, allowing the blend to settle, connect and find its own harmony. Natural perfumery is a beautiful balance of patience, intuition and chemistry — where every botanical extract and aromatic note has its own personality.

After the concentrate was ready, it was carefully blended, bottled, labelled and packaged — transforming an idea into something tangible.

A fragrance made from a story, created with intention, and now ready to become part of someone else’s.

🍊 We're delighted to be taking part in the inaugural Kangaroo Valley Citrus Fest! 🍊

Join us for a wonderful day celebrating all things citrus, from growing and preserving to creating, learning and connecting with a community of passionate makers and growers.

I'll be hosting a hands-on workshop demonstrating how to make a beautiful botanical body cream that highlights the freshness and benefits of citrus ingredients.

Today marks the Winter Solstice, the longest night and a quiet turning point toward the return of the light.

In a world that often asks us to do more, winter invites us to do less. To slow down. To breathe deeply. To honour ourselves and the natural world simply by being present.

Light a candle. Pour a cup of herbal tea. Step outside and breath in the beauty of the season. Take a little extra time with your skincare ritual. Wrap yourself in warmth and stillness.

Nature is not rushing, and we do not need to either.

Let this Winter Solstice be a reminder that rest is productive, stillness has value, and there is beauty in simply being.
