Who’s up for a bit of Ice Dyeing?
Here I’m using Procion Ice Dyes on cotton muslin…let’s see what happens!
Ice Dyeing is a fun and simple technique where you soak plant-based fabric in soda ash solution (this allows the fabric to take up the dye), then twist or fold it before covering with ice and sprinkling dye on top. As the ice melts slowly overnight, the colours separate and blend, creating stunning, crystal-like patterns bursting with vibrant hues.
The magic is not knowing what will happen - the patterns are so mesmerising!
Here I’ve used three Jacquard Procion Ice Dye colours - Spumoni, Meterorite, and Black Opal, with an open weave cotton muslin (all in stock in the shop Friends).

✨Creating Joy ✨
Hello Friends 🤗. Just popping into your feed to share a wet-felted pod I made for a dear friend a while ago. Here I’ve used Nube to create layers of blended colour. The end result is always a surprise…a little spark of magic ✨.

Do you ever become stuck in first gear, unable to gain momentum because you’re not sure how to achieve an outcome?
I often feel this way when trying a new technique (and sometimes living life in general 🙃😜) - I might have an idea of what I’d like to achieve, but not sure how to go about it.
That’s how it’s been with this experiment in Branch Weaving. To be honest, I’ve been overthinking the whole thing, focusing on the destination rather than the journey.
So here’s what I’ll take with me going forward - what’s the worst that can happen?
It might not work out, but if that’s the case, I learned something that will help me with a second, third, fourth….attempt.
So, what is the first step?
It’s to take one step.
And then see where the second one leads ☺️✨.

🐰🤗Happy Easter Friends 🤗🐰!
From my hands to yours, here’s a bit of Easter Bunny Love 💖🐇, made from two Pom Poms, using Pom Pom makers , plus a bit of Needle Felting for added detail.

Do you ever wonder what to make from left-over yarn 🤗💜?
I had a small amount of Lily Sugar ‘n Cream left over from a knitted facecloth, so decided to make a small tassel.
💜After wrapping the cotton yarn around a piece of cardboard, attach a hanger, then make a small tassel head by winding yarn around the bundle to create a “neck”;
💜cover the tassel head with needlelace (still using the left over cotton) - here I’ve used a similar technique to the one I used to cover wooden beads with Needlelace (you can find a full instructional reel on page);
💜then add woven roses and Chain Stitch leaves made from hand dyed silk ribbons, completing the tassel with a few sparkly beads.

How do each of these templates differ 🤔?
Each is a Kanzashi Flower Maker from …a super clever way of folding, then stitching fabric into perfect petals, making decorative fabric flowers 😊🌸🌼🌻.
But each makes either a different size or different shaped flower ….how nifty is that 🤗🌸?!

Hello Friends 🤗🌸.
If you’ve been following along with the making of the needlelace for my little glass jar, you’re ready to finish off the base. If you’d like to know how I arrived at this point, you can find previous reels on page, showing more of the process.
To work the base you’ll need to start decreasing your stitches, gradually at first, then more often. To decrease, simply miss one loop before continuing on with your Buttonhole Lace as usual, then decrease again when needed. This may be every 4-6 stitches at first, gradually becoming more often. I like to stagger my decreases randomly, but you can be more mathematical about it and space them out methodically.
Either way, be sure to pull up your decrease loop to avoid unnecessarily large holes in your lace.

I’ve been experimenting with some Catona mini balls today, hoping to work pastel stripes in needlelace on a little glass jar. It’s been lovely watching the colours shift.
Perhaps this will be an Easter gift? We’ll see how it goes…🥰🐣.
