I listened to an ABC Conversations podcast with poet where he said this and I haven’t stopped thinking about it…

“We’ve all seen the phenomena where someone who hasn’t read a poem in 20 years, they will have to speak at a memorial service or for someone close to them.

The first thing they intuitively look for is a poem to say, or a song lyric, to say what cannot be said. It’s just intuitively understood, no matter that our strategic mind would dismiss poetry when we’re far away from it in an abstract way.”

I couldn’t agree more and feel the same about flowers and reaching for them intuitively to express ourselves 💐
