Some of my favourite memories from Crete are the warm summer nights strolling along the harbour in Heraklion. We call it “Koule”. We’d wander through the Marina pier, eating sporakia and munching on charred corn cobs and sharing our Koutsobolio before stopping at a little café called Marina for a coffee… and of course, dessert.
Their kadaifi me pagoto was unforgettable.
Golden, buttery, crispy kadaifi filled with fragrant nuts, soaked in sweet syrup and served with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was one of those desserts you think about long after your holiday is over.

If I could eat spanakopita every day of the week—for breakfast, lunch or dinner…I absolutely would. I always joke, “You can keep your Maccas… I’ll take a slice of spanakopita any day!”
Yiayia’s homemade pita from scratch is the BEST and I’ll be sharing soon so stay tuned! But for busy mums at home, using ready-made fillo pastry is such a convenient option. I’m using , which is beautifully crisp and one of my favourite store-bought options.

My Great Yiayia (my mum’s yiayia) lived to 108 years old, and she drank this tea every day of her life. It was essentially part of her breakfast in the morning. It was always brewing in her kitchen, especially during winter, and whenever someone was feeling unwell.

Not till recently did I realize this Lahanosalata is eaten mostly in the winter in Greece, I guess cabbage is a winter vegetable so it’s a bit of a given Deb 🙄😂

This Salad was my very first post that went viral few years ago. I remember it getting to a million views and I thought wow people really love Greek food! So here is my updated version with a little more experience in this field of editing 😜

For me, recipes like this are what Greek cooking is all about. Honest food that’s made with love 💕

I served it with hot chips, and it was absolutely delicious! The crispy chips were perfect for soaking up all that rich saltsa. If you prefer, you can also serve it over pasta, with fluffy rice, creamy mashed potatoes, or simply enjoy it with some fresh crusty bread to mop up every last of ZOUMI 👌👌👌👌

Have you been to Balos Lagoon in Crete before? 💙

It’s honestly the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen in my life! Save this for the next time you visit Crete.

Next time we go back, we’re definitely taking the boat. If you’ve driven that road, you’ll know exactly why! It’s the narrowest, scariest road I’ve ever been on. 😱 I genuinely thought every turn was going to be our last! 😂

Cars are parked bumper-to-bumper along the mountain side, while the other side of the road is nothing but a sheer cliff. Safe to say… we’ll be taking the boat next time! 😂

I’m pretty sure our relationship was tested that day 🤣 We were hot, hangry, frustrated, and the entire drive through this road, wondering why we’d ever decided to come.

But the moment we found a park and walked up to that first breathtaking view… everything changed. We stopped arguing, made up, and completely fell in love with the place—and each other—all over again. It’s what Greece does for you 🥰
