A Living Moss & Mortar Artwork

Rosalie began life in our Experimental Division, where a tiny Pink Princess Philodendron and an unidentified propagation shared a beautiful vintage cream ceramic jug while we patiently waited to see what nature had planned.

As the mystery propagation matured, it finally revealed itself to be a Monstera adansonii.

Rosalie now features:

Presented in a beautiful vintage cream ceramic jug, Rosalie has grown from a tiny experiment into a unique living artwork.

🧪 Moss & Mortar Experimental Division

Current experiment: Philodendron Pink Princess & Variegated Alocasia Frydek.

PPP reduced to multiple possibilities following periods of significant ongoing attitude.

New growth is now emerging, and early observations suggest the potential for increased variegation in both plants.

At this stage, we can't be certain what direction either specimen intends to take.

Will the variegation strengthen?
Will it remain stable?
Will the plants reveal something entirely unexpected?

For now, watch and see.

The most interesting plants are often the ones that refuse to follow instructions.

🌿 Welcome to Moss & Mortar 🌿

Or, as I prefer to call it:

The Frankston Institute of Questionable Botanical Science.

Most of my creations start with a simple question:

"What would happen if I put this plant in that vessel?"

Sometimes the answer is beautiful.

Sometimes the answer is chaos.

Either way, it's usually interesting.

Many of my pieces are living works of art — tiny ecosystems designed to grow, change and evolve over time. Some are self-contained little worlds that require very little from their adoptive parents beyond a splash of water every now and then.

And because plants, much like people, occasionally make terrible life choices...

🌱 If it becomes sick, dramatic, rootbound, overgrown or generally decides to choose violence, bring it back.

🌱 If it needs repotting, rehabilitation or resurrection, bring it back.

🌱 If it's looking sorry for itself, bring it back.

Plant resurrection is one of my favourite hobbies.

Moss & Mortar isn't just about buying a plant. It's about giving a living creation a home and knowing there's always somewhere for it to return when it needs a little help.
