Send this to a cool cat lady in your life 🎈🎂
——
I’ve been a little quiet on here lately because I’ve been busy behind the scenes with all sorts of things, but I wanted to pop in and say hello.
How are you? I hope you’ve all been well. 💖
One of the things I finally did last month was book in for a health check. I’ll be honest, I’m not the best at keeping on top of these things, but it had been a few years and I knew it was time.
After losing my aunt to breast cancer recently, it felt like a huge wake-up call for me.
I also went for my first ever mammogram, which by the way, if you’re over 40 and living in Australia, is free. My girls were a little shaken, but thankfully, overall in good shape.
I shared this with my newsletter family recently because I think so many of us, especially as women, tend to put ourselves at the bottom of the list. We look after everyone else first and somehow convince ourselves we’ll get to our own needs later.
I’m trying to change that.
My mum and my aunt both left this earth at 67, which feels far too young to me. And it’s made me think a lot about how I want to live, how I want to care for myself, and how easy it is to keep postponing our own wellbeing.
So ladies, let’s look after ourselves a little better.
That might look different for each of us.
It might mean booking the appointment you’ve been avoiding. Drawing better boundaries. Eating a little healthier. Moving your body more. Taking yourself out on a date. Buying yourself flowers. Saying no without guilt. Saying yes to the thing you’ve been overthinking for far too long.
Whatever it looks like for you, I hope you remember that you matter too. 💛
