Send this to a cool cat lady in your life 🎈🎂
——
I’ve been a little quiet on here lately because I’ve been busy behind the scenes with all sorts of things, but I wanted to pop in and say hello.

How are you? I hope you’ve all been well. 💖

One of the things I finally did last month was book in for a health check. I’ll be honest, I’m not the best at keeping on top of these things, but it had been a few years and I knew it was time.

After losing my aunt to breast cancer recently, it felt like a huge wake-up call for me.

I also went for my first ever mammogram, which by the way, if you’re over 40 and living in Australia, is free. My girls were a little shaken, but thankfully, overall in good shape.

I shared this with my newsletter family recently because I think so many of us, especially as women, tend to put ourselves at the bottom of the list. We look after everyone else first and somehow convince ourselves we’ll get to our own needs later.

I’m trying to change that.

My mum and my aunt both left this earth at 67, which feels far too young to me. And it’s made me think a lot about how I want to live, how I want to care for myself, and how easy it is to keep postponing our own wellbeing.

So ladies, let’s look after ourselves a little better.

That might look different for each of us.

It might mean booking the appointment you’ve been avoiding. Drawing better boundaries. Eating a little healthier. Moving your body more. Taking yourself out on a date. Buying yourself flowers. Saying no without guilt. Saying yes to the thing you’ve been overthinking for far too long.

Whatever it looks like for you, I hope you remember that you matter too. 💛

I read somewhere that as we grow older, joy starts to look a little different. It’s not found in big defining moments but in ordinary spaces. The in-between. The pauses. The comfort you feel in good company. They’re the ones that matter.

Here are some of the things I’m so grateful for:
1) I’m working on some wonderful things at the moment, although I can’t share too much just yet, 2027 will be an exciting year.

2) My 11 yo has been asking to play mahjong. My husband is watching YouTube tutorials online and I bought a book on how to play mahjong because I’m a beginner at best. We’ve been playing every night this week.

3) and 4) I love autumn and all the changes the season brings.

5) and 6) We have a new member to the family 💛 We adopted a five year old ragdoll named Mavi and while she’s still a little skittish around us, she’s already brought us so much happiness. I love sitting in the sun with her and stroking her beautiful coat.

My little koala friend here is bursting with ribbon, gift, and whimsy - it’s all about capturing that seasonal charm. 🐨❄️

There's something truly magical about crafting festive artwork as the Aussie weather cools down - it's like wrapping myself in cozy vibes! ❤️

I'm building my art library, showing up consistently, and trusting the right eyes will land on my work at the perfect time ✨. Art directors, I'd love to collaborate on some Christmas magic - let's chat or check out my portfolio 💌.

What's your style - classic Christmas hues or softer tones like this pink palette? 💗

If you’re wondering why I have these Christmas koalas 🐨 up in May, it’s because Christmas isn’t just a season… it’s a year-round mission for art directors.

When is a good time to pitch your seasonal art? Honestly… any time.

Every company and industry works on their own timelines, and we’re rarely in the room when those decisions are being made. The only thing I can control is what I create and how I show up. So even if it feels a little odd sharing festive work in May, I’d rather be visible, prepared, and ready when opportunity comes knocking.

Sometimes it’s not about perfect timing… it’s about being seen when it matters.

And if you’re an art director looking for Christmas artwork, my inbox is always open 💌 Send me an email at [email protected] and I’ll be happy to send you a link to my online portfolio.

I adulted this week and got some mini collections done, so I celebrated with a friend over lunch 😆.

At this point of life, I feel the need to celebrate every little thing because summers are limited and we should go easy on ourselves.

If you’re an art director looking for artwork, feel free to email me at [email protected] — I’d love to point you towards my portfolio.

I recently lost my incredible aunt to cancer, and I'm still remembering her radiant soul. She was a one-of-a-kind gem, always spreading joy and warmth wherever she went.

At her wake, I met so many people whose lives she had touched - colleagues who lovingly referred to her as “Mother.” Seeing how much she was loved and will be missed was truly beautiful 💖

I created this artwork to celebrate her memory, capturing her love for life, flowers, and lively conversations. I imagine her now, reunited with my mum and grandma in heaven, catching up on gossip and having the time of their lives.

Goodbye Ah Ee, thank you for everything. We’ve been so blessed to have you in our lives. Love you always, Mable.
