Sleek, Modern and Made to Brief

At Normanby House by Pleysier Perkins, the brief was a corner fireplace that was sleek and modern, and would not take anything away from the design of the wall. In the living area, the MODE KS1150 Corner has anti-glare glass at the front and reflective panels at the rear that make the fire appear longer and deeper. In the sitting room, the Escea DF700 was retrofitted into the existing fireplace.

A Wood Fire Built Into the Wall | The TC950 Inbuilt.

Wood fires built into a wall often come with grilles and vents around them. With its Zero Clearance Kit, the TC950 installs directly into standard timber framing, finished in cement sheet, stone or tile.

The finish is frameless, with an integrated cool-touch handle and a door that opens fully.

The DFS940, the Largest in DFS Series.

Freestanding format means no wall cavity is needed, which makes it a direct swap for an old wood burner or an option in rooms with no space for an inbuilt. The glass runs 872mm wide across the front, the widest viewing window in the series, with the Splitwood fuelbed sitting over bead burner. Plinth and base options allow it to sit on a purpose made stand or on a custom hearth.

A Clean Line of Flame | The DS1150 Single Sided.

Most fireplaces draw the eye to the surround. The DS1150 does the opposite - edge to edge glass with no visible border means the flame is all you see, sitting flush with the wall rather than against it.

Flexible flue options and a wide choice of finishing materials mean the design can be led entirely by the space.

A Modern Wood Fire in Two Sizes: TFS1000 and TFS650.

Both units drawing combustion air from outside the home instead of the room, so no cold draughts are created as the fire burns. A heat activated Smart Fan runs at two speeds and only switches on once the firebox is hot enough, pushing heat further into the room. The TFS1000 is the wider of the two with a larger viewing window, while the TFS650 is built for smaller living spaces.

Flame on Two Sides: The MODE KS1460 Corner.

Wrapping around the edge of a wall, the flame carries across both faces so the fire reads from two rooms at once. The fuelbed sits low under a long, slow flame, with the glass meeting at the corner and no frame breaking the join. Left and right hand versions mean the wrap can follow whichever way the room turns.

Freed from a client brief, Paul Conrad designed his own Malvern home exactly as he believes it should be, restrained yet bold. At its centre, the MODE KS1150 Tall Gas Fireplace sits flush and frameless in the wall, finished with a steel surround and stone hearth.

New Life for an Old Fireplace.

Designed with renovators in mind, the DF700 retrofits into an existing cavity or a brick chimney using flexi-flue extensions, so the original mantel surround stays in place. Bead Burner technology and the Splitwood fuelbed produce softer, wider flames over lifelike embers and large logs, while a 5-star efficiency rating keeps running costs down. Zero Clearance construction also widens the range of materials that can sit around the firebox.
