How absolutely blessed am I to be able to work on pieces like this stunning 19th Century Giltwood and Gesso Ornate Mirror!

Still with her original Silvered glass in immaculate condition, the gorgeous frame had some bumps, chips, cracks and some moulding completely missing.

Working with ultra fine plaster, I meticulously filled each crack and chip and then rebuilt and HAND CARVED the missing moulding.
My amazing client was quite fond of the aged petina on the gild so I 'aged' the repairs by laying the gold over a matte black base in multiple layers.

She now stands proud with the repairs all but invisible...

This is something very special.

My clients Great Uncle and Great Aunt were some of the very first missionaries sent to Africa in the 1920’s.
Her Great Uncle built the first church in Lira, a small town about 100km outside of Uganda.
They came home for furlough and unfortunately her Great Uncle died of malaria while he was on leave.
Her Great Aunt only returned once to Uganda to pack up. She lived for a further 50 years and never remarried.

These chairs were from their church.

Repaired and restored.
Recovered in crocodile hide with box mitre edge.

This Carousel Snowglobe belongs to my beautiful clients teenage daughter. It was gifted to her for her Christening!
Time had taken its toll on the rubber seal and slowly but surely, all the 'magic' leaked out.
Its no mean feat replicating a custom made rubber seal (that they do not make anymore) that houses a rotating musical carousel submerged in water within a glass ball... But...
ITS MAGICAL ONCE AGAIN ✨
This is hands down the most beautiful Snowglobe in existence. ❤️

This classic Parker Knoll is 1 of a pair that once belonged to my clients grandparents.
The front leg/arm had come away at the join and was extremely unstable.
It wasn't until I dismantled the joint, that I saw the real extent of the damage.
There was a terrible twist fracture at the facing leg joint, and boy was she broken!

Being a Parker Knoll, they are really well constructed and the sequence of the joinery is imperative to its construction. In order to repair this joint, I had to undo the entire front section including both armrests, front legs and facing panel, along with the upholstery and the tension springs across the seat!

The timber surrounding the dowels both internally and on the upper right-hand side had completely splintered off. (Without a solid foundation to support the dowels, the join is structurally impossible.) So I rebuilt these areas using Epoxy Putty, and externally colour matched the repair as close as possible to the original timber.

Being 1 of a pair, a full resurface was not ideal as the timber needed to match on both chairs. Instead, we opted for colour match paint and blend over the repaired surfaces.

Affectionately dubbed Mr Wings, this incredible tribal statue was nursed all the way from a tiny remote village in Papua, Spice Islands called Bis Agats. He made it safely all the way to Bali but unfortunately arrived in Australia completely broken after the 'gentle' hands of Airline baggage.
This was such an interesting challenge as the wood species is unknown and had a small section completely missing along one of the breaks on the wing.
Also it had previously been traditionally repaired with some kind of organic resin or sap, which had since failed and reacted causing a lumpy abnormality.
Because of the nature of this piece being Art, what it looks like is of the highest priority so my repairs had to be as invisible as possible.
I used internal pins and clear resin for strength and stability, then wood filler and colour matched my paint pallet to emulate the wood.
Mr Wings can fly again. X

This gorgeous Drop Box Pendulum Clock held such special memories for my beautiful friend.

It unfortunately sustained extensive damage after falling off the wall.
So...we rewound the clock & turned back time by repairing & polishing (and i learnt a thing or 10 about Pendulum Clock mechanisms 🤓)

Some memories are timeless, but not this one!

Ok no more puns, i promise 🧡

"To be real is up to you" PINOCCHIO

Pinocchio took a nasty fall off the shelf and broke his little knee. Calling upon the wisdom and skill of Geppetto, I rebuilt his knee and colour matched my paint pallet to blend the repair.

To say this brings me joy is an understatement!
Im so absolutely blessed to be able to do what I love ✨

Kintsugi, which means "golden joinery" is the art of repairing broken pottery using lacquer mixed with powdered gold.
This practice treats imperfections as beautiful.
It is the philosophy of embracing damage and repair, and seeing something as more beautiful for having been broken.

What arrived was a pile of broken pieces and a broken heart after The Jasper Floods destroyed my beautiful clients Jewlery Box.

It had once belonged to her Grandmother and was of course sentimentally priceless.

Piece by piece she was delicately restored and now can return home again. This one filled my heart ❤️
