Some of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt in my business didn’t come from success. They came from heartbreak, survival and seeing the true character of people when life fell apart.
Over 15 years, my business has never just been about products to me. Yes, quality matters deeply; which is why we at Scentsy offer products with a lifetime warranty, things I genuinely believe in and feel proud to stand behind, but the people have always mattered more.
Kindness and Integrity are my biggest standards. Always.
I care how people are spoken to. I care how they’re treated. I care about creating a space where people feel seen, welcome and valued.
When our family initially went through trauma and grief, I saw something I’ll never forget. Customers showed up. People continued ordering online, supporting my business quietly in the background to help keep things more than afloat while we tried to survive unimaginable loss. That support meant more than most people will ever fully understand.
It reminds me that business done with heart creates real connection.
That’s why I work hard to build more than a customer base. I try to create a village; within my Grant Your Wishes family and customers. A place where people feel encouraged, appreciated, supported and part of something genuine. Bringing comfort, value and worthiness into people's lives.
I work best with people who value honesty, communication and mutual respect. I’ll always give my best in return. I put care into every interaction, every order, every message, because I know small things can matter greatly to someone’s day.
At the same time, I’ve learned that kindness also needs boundaries.
I protect my time and energy more now. I value my work more now. And I no longer feel guilty for expecting respect back.
The reputation I continue to build is simple: Warm. Trustworthy. Reliable. Kind. Someone people feel safe buying from and safe talking to.
I think standards matter because they build trust. And trust is the reason people stay long after the excitement of a sale fades.
In a world that can sometimes feel disconnected, I’ll keep choosing heart, integrity and community every single time.
What’s something you value most in business, which people you choose to support? 💜
