Everything's coming up flowers this week!
The Penola Show is on this Friday and Saturday, and the main Pavillion is always bursting with flowers. The scent is amazing! This time of year is when our gardens are blooming and looking their best, and with the best of the district florals on show this weekend, we can’t stop thinking about floral fabrics! Roses, daisies, ditsy florals, bold and bright, there is endless variety and we have a huge variety in-store! Don’t forget floral quilt patterns and floral cross stitch patterns! This gorgeous quilt was made by our lovely friend and neighbour Marion and held up by the fabulous Jenn of Little Bool Flowers in Bool Lagoon (just around the corner from us on Saturdays!). We just had to take the photo in the field of beautiful flowers at Jenn’s house! Thank you Marion and Jenn! Quilted by Tranquilitee quilting in Naracoorte! Stunning!

These little duckies are flying out the door! So much love for ducks! The shop is open as usual this weekend and we have had more wonderful arrivals this week! New Poppie Cotton, ‘Primrose and Parsley’, fresh new Bella Solids colours, new Cluck Cluck Sew quilt patterns (and Plaidy Cake restocked!), ‘Bushland Beauty by Wirihana designs and ‘Paws, Claws and Roars’ by Devonstone! Cross stitch fans will delight in wonderful new patterns too! Too many to possibly list, so have a lazy weekend browse online or visit Kerry in the shop and have a lovely wander!

ve you heard of ‘Dobby’ before? If you’re a Harry Potter fan then you might be very familiar with the word but have you heard about Dobby fabric? Dobby fabric is a type of woven fabric produced on a specific dobby loom. The fabric is distinguished by its geometric patterns and intricate designs in a raised texture. Part of the Hokkoh Japanese fabrics in our store, the Dobby collection is beautiful bright florals with a touch of gold and the distinctive Dobby weave texture. We think it’s very similar to that old bark cloth fabric. Is it the same thing? It certainly gives much more pizazz to your projects! Many quilters love a bit of fine cotton lawn fabric for their projects. As a lighter weight, it also serves beautifully for dressmaking, needleturn applique, baby item and English paper piecing. We have a beautiful collection on offer that includes wildflowers, traditional pocket square, cool cats and ditsy florals! Some of the little florals even have tiny cats hidden in the pattern! So sweet and perfect for any cotton lawn project!

One day we will get to Japan and have a great time in Kyoto fabric district, but until then, we are lucky enough to be able to order some gorgeous Japanese fabrics from our wholesalers!
Japanese fabrics are usually known for being quiet and understated, but our collection has a bit more personality than that. There's a playfulness in these prints you don't always find, little characters and unexpected details tucked into small scale designs.
A little range that came in last week are these six cute duck fabrics. Country Diary Ducks by Handwork’s Fabrics are printed on a rustic background of cream, brown, blue, green, red and yellow. Perfect for a little person quilt, or this adorable Washing Line fabric by Oskikka for Hokkoh Fabrics!
