The stair is where a timber floor gets tested.

Treads carried in the same walnut as the floor, the same brushed and oiled finish, landing on a platform that reads as part of the floor rather than a separate object sitting on it. Match the species, the grade and the finish across floor and stair and it looks like one piece of work. Get it slightly wrong and it is the first thing anyone notices.

Sierra House in Kiev by in Grandi Formati by European walnut, brushed and oiled to sample. Veneto Group supplies stair treads, risers and nosings made to match the floor.

Brushed timber and raking sun.

The surface here is spazzolato, brushed, so the soft grain is taken back and the harder grain stands slightly proud. Run low sun across it and you see texture rather than a flat sheet of colour. Oiled rather than lacquered, so the light goes into the timber instead of bouncing off it.

Oiled to a sample as well, which means the colour was approved on a full board before the floor was made. European walnut moves in colour from board to board and that is not a fault, it is the reason people specify it.

From above you can see what the large format actually buys you.

Two full seating zones, rugs, a fireplace, and the floor still reads as one field running underneath all of it. No repeating pattern of short joints breaking the plan into pieces.

That is Grandi Formati by in European walnut, brushed and oiled to sample, at Sierra House in Kiev by

Worth noting where the boards run. They cross the plan rather than follow the length of the room, which is a deliberate call and it is the one most people get wrong.

Walnut on the floor, walnut overhead, carved stone between them.

Sierra House in Kiev by and floored in Grandi Formati by in European walnut, brushed and oiled to sample. It holds its own against a double height volume, a full height glass wall and a stone feature wall with real depth in it.

That is the argument for walnut over a stained oak in a room like this. The colour is in the timber. It does not flatten out when the light changes through the day, and it does not fight the other materials for attention.

Look at how far those boards run before they stop.

Sierra House in Kiev by and laid in Grandi Formati by . European walnut, brushed and oiled to a sample colour. Grandi Formati is the large format board, wide and long, so a room this size can be crossed with very few end joints. The floor reads as one surface and the space reads longer than it measures.

That effect is decided before anything is cut. Board direction, set out, and a subfloor flat enough to carry a board that long.

Swipe through: from small garage to Region's Small Project of the Year.

Casa Bassa by Francesco Pierazzi Architects won the 2026 RIBA South East Award. The design translates the binary language of artificial intelligence into architecture, a rhythm of black metal and light surfaces.

Underfoot, CP Parquet European oak Prime in the very light Liverpool tone, brushed and UV oiled, brings natural warmth into the concept.

Proof that great design has no minimum size.

Every beautiful timber floor has a story before it reaches your home.

These CP Parquet boards have passed through the hands of Italian master artisans, through careful sanding and finishing, and now they rest, waiting to be laid in the home they are destined for.

That patience and craft is what you feel underfoot for decades afterwards. Visit the Veneto Group showroom to see it up close.

Think timber floors are only for quiet living rooms? Think again.

CP Parquet's Alto Traffico finish protects timber with abrasion resistance up to ten times higher than a standard lacquer, independently tested by CATAS in Italy. That means real timber warmth and grain in restaurants, hotels and other busy spaces, without compromise.

Contact Veneto Group to discuss the right timber solution for your commercial or residential project.

The idea that timber can't handle high-traffic spaces is outdated. Alto Traffico by CP Parquet: up to ten times the abrasion resistance of standard lacquer, CATAS-tested. Warmth and grain, even under thousands of footsteps a day.

One table, one lamp, and a floor asking for nothing.

Restaurant JAN's own brand philosophy holds that understatement carries confidence, and that the most meaningful things don't demand attention. This is that idea in timber — not a feature floor, but the surface that makes everything above it look considered.
