Not a lot of motivation happening in the Creative Chook sewing room today,
and apparently my sewing assistant isn't too concerned about it either.

Tote Bags the talk of the week!

It is amazing what you find whilst doing a bit or organising in the sewing room, I came across some left overs from bags I made earlier in the year and thought a revamp was in order!

So tell me would you like pockets in your tote bags or something a little different? your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

This week we have Tote Bags.

Here is just a few from my Tote Bag Collection.

Who doesn't need a Tote Bag or two... or maybe five.

Shopping, library books, craft supplies, a day out, all those bits and pieces that somehow need to come along with you.

Fold one up and keep it in the car, grab one on the way out the door or use it instead of another plastic bag.

Why not take a Tote Bag with a bit of style and brighten up your day.

Bright, colourful, floral, birds, bees — there is a little bit of everything in my collection.

All handmade by me, one bag at a time.

So what do you use your Tote Bag for?

The warmer weather is out there, well it is coming I am sure.

The coffee machine.

Coffee: the perfect blend of warmth, aroma, and endless possibilities. (Author unknown)

Most mornings around here start with coffee! before I head into the sewing room and work out what on earth I am doing for the day.

Some mornings I have a plan.
Some mornings I have lots of ideas.
And some mornings I just have coffee and hope the rest sorts itself out.

But this week I have been trying something different and actually getting up and getting ready as if I am going to work.

Because apparently when you work for yourself you are not only the maker, photographer, social media person, packer and CEO

you also have to be the employee who actually turns up for work!

What is the one thing you need before your day begins?

Yesterday I showed you the finished bag, today I thought I would show you what happens before we get there.

The Process of handmade, one bag at a time.

It starts with fabric. lots of fabric

Then comes the choosing, cutting and arranging, changing my mind, moving things around and probably changing my mind again.

Each square is cut and placed by me before they are sewn together to make the outside of the bag.

And apparently making one bag requires making the sewing room look like a small fabric bomb has gone off.

But this is the bit you don't always see when you look at the finished product.

There isn't a pile of identical bags coming off a production line.

There is just me, my rotary cutter, sewing machine, a table covered in fabric and an idea of what I hope it will look like when I'm finished.

One piece, one stitch and one bag at a time.

It may look like a Tote Bag, but this one has had a revamp!

I wanted to make something with a little more structure than my regular Tote Bags, so this one has interfacing to make it much sturdier.

Then of course we need pockets, because who doesn't need pockets!

There is a large divided pocket on one side and a zippered pocket on the other for those little things you don't want disappearing to the bottom of your bag.

The outside is quilted featuring pinks, reds and greens, and as always it is handmade by me, one piece and one stitch at a time.

So now I have one question...

What do I call her?
