What a fantastic afternoon on a big city adventure yesterday with the cooking crew and possibly a couple of sneaky extras!

With Holly at the helm, we headed off to explore all things Korean as she practises navigating and planning her way around the city in readiness for her upcoming exchange program in Korea. It also gave us the perfect excuse to sample as many Korean goodies as possible along the way!

The kids had an absolute blast catching the train into the city, wandering through an epic Asian supermarket filled with all sorts of sweet treats and treasures, then relaxing in the Flagstaff Gardens to enjoy some of their delicious finds.

From there, we headed off to enjoy some super yummy Korean food, which was definitely a highlight of the day!

And of course, no city adventure would be complete without a stop at Miniso. Such a cute shop, and a big hit with the kids!

A wonderful day filled with new experiences, lots of laughs, great food, and even better company. We really do have such an amazing bunch of kids. ❤️

Already looking forward to the next adventure! Next time, Forest is in charge! Well done Holly!

Parents, you’re welcome in advance...

I think one of the very first workshops we need to get moving on at the new HQ is teaching kids how to use a Kärcher pressure washer! Hear me out: It counts as essential life skills.

✅They get to play with high-powered water.
✅They can take those newly acquired skills home to clean your driveways.
✅It might strictly benefit my own backyard first...

It’s a win-win for everyone! What do you think—would you sign your kids up for a "Pressure Washer 101" class?

We’re alive, we promise!

We have been so flat out working on the new headquarters that we’ve completely neglected our updates! The boys and I haven’t stopped moving because we want to get these workshops up and running for you ASAP (with Mum and Winnie along, helping most of the time too!).

Here is what we’ve been up to behind the scenes:

* Cleared mountains of rubbish from around the site - so so much....
* Transformed the old office into a secure lock-up for workshop equipment.
* Turned the shop into a beautiful, luxurious space.

We also tackled one of our smelliest projects yet: the front gate fountain! It hasn't run since the major storms years ago. It was a massive learning curve. We emptied the sludge, scrubbed it, checked for leaks, and filled it up.

Then came the "Doh!" moment. Miles put the water lilies back in, but we didn't realise we needed to rinse the dirt off and repot them first. As soon as they hit the water, it turned pitch black again! At least not filled with sludge though!!!

Oh well, so much learning to do, but so much fun along the way. Stay tuned for the final reveal photos!

Is there any interest in coming along to a Big Morning Tea fundraiser for the Cancer Council? ☕💛

Most of you know our long journey with Miles and his cancer journey over the years, and the incredible support we’ve received from hospitals and research teams that have helped make it possible for him to be with us today. The work these organisations do is truly life-changing and so important. As a family, and as the Mischief Makers team, we’d love to give back and help raise some funds…

We thought this could be a really fun way to do it — maybe even a decorate-your-own cupcake station or something creative like that. Let’s have some fun while making a difference.✨

If there’s enough interest, we’ll register and lock it in today — who’s keen?

Watching our magical community come together in the garden is a beautiful sight.

From sharing years of gardening secrets to getting hands-on with the next generation! Miles and I spent the afternoon planting a variety of peas and beans alongside their flower companions. So excited to see the results! You'll have to watch this space, and we will post updates on our magical edible, beautiful garden coming to life! Yeah

What an EPIC day of Dart Mayhem!!! 🔥💥

A huge thank you to all the kids (big and small!) and your awesome grown-ups for coming along and making today such a blast. The energy, the laughter, the teamwork — just magic. What a great way to test out the new Mischief Makers Hub!!! It was so cool to be setting up in the giant storm yesterday grinning knowing it was so not a stress for us with all the shelter! Yeah!!!

We loved watching everyone take it seriously in the best way… carefully choosing their ultimate weapon, forming teams, donning armbands, and heading into battle like true legends. The juniors were absolute stars too — with their special shields and VIP treatment, they held their own like champions! 🛡️

It was such a magical day seeing kids of all ages strategising, supporting each other, and forging new friendships through play. Exactly what Mischief Makers is all about 💛

We honestly can’t wait for the next one… It’s only going to get bigger and better! We will be sure to give more notice next time, considering we only gave a day's notice - it was a great turnout!

And a MASSIVE thank you to Ben and Cat for the incredible donation of even more battle gear — you legends!!! 🙌

Master Miles - I have to say an epic shout out for all your efforts in helping make this day happen. You have been soooo wanting to kick off the battle sessions for parties and regular catchups - well, you did us proud. Whipping up arm bands and flags, helping plan the activities and set up and then helping run the session! It was magical watching you patiently helping the younger ones and keeping track of everyone. Super proud buddy! For those who helped set up and pack up as well - big thanks! Mumma for the scones too!!!!!!

Wahooooooo!!! 🎯💥

So this little space… this was the old office of the nursery when we took it over. This is one of our first major projects for getting this place whipped into gear!

And wow—what a sight it was.

It was still completely filled with all their old office equipment and records, but everything had been absolutely destroyed. The floors were literally swimming in water and mould. We couldn’t work out how it had gotten so bad… until we looked up.

At some point, lights had been installed into the roof—and the holes had just been left completely open. Yep… fully open to the elements. So for nearly two years while the place sat abandoned, rain had just been pouring straight in, slowly ruining everything inside.

So began the challenge.

We had to empty the entire space, bin everything, rip up the flooring and wall linings, deal with multiple ant nests, and then start from scratch—cleaning, treating, sealing, and trying to bring the room back to life.

And of course… it wouldn’t be a Mischief Makers project without a few curveballs.

At one point, we used the wrong floor sealant (thanks Bunnings 😅), and ended up with a very bright orange-red floor. Not quite the look we were going for! So that meant redoing it all—another round of prep, plus two more coats to get it to something we could live with.

Not ideal… but all is good in the world again.

Now, the space has completely transformed. Jasp has put together all the racking (which used to be out in the shop), and we’ve finally got proper lock-up storage for our tools, craft supplies, and cooking gear.

And a massive shoutout to Jasp for tackling the lighting—designing a quick 3D print solution, getting up on the roof, cleaning it up, sealing everything properly, and installing new caps. Done and dusted. Absolute legend—especially working through the heat and all that dirt.

It’s been a huge job, but seeing it come together like this… it feels pretty special. Shout out to mum, Jasp and Miles for helping big time!!!

Oh my goodness — we finally made it 🎉✨

Late Friday, the settlement finally went through, and our new Mischief Makers home — and home for Jasp, Miles and I — is officially ours!!

It has been such a long road. Years searching for the right place… then buying… moving out… renovating Sass… selling Sassafras… having it fall through… selling again… finally settling… and then a truly nightmarish run trying to get this new place over the line. For the past two months, our hands have been completely tied — not allowed to move the previous owners’ belongings, not allowed to paint or change anything, and unable to properly prepare for next term’s workshops.

After 14 straight days of being told “settlement is happening” — and having it cancelled each night — late Friday, we finally got the yes. We nearly didn’t believe it when it actually happened.

We’ve started the cleanup over the last couple of months in between moving, renovating Sassafras, etc, but now the real work begins. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be moving fast and getting everything ready for action.

We’re so sorry for the delay in putting up the new workshop schedule — it has genuinely been out of our control — but it’s coming very soon, I promise.

Huge excitement ahead and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next. Bring on 2026 🌿✨

✨ Mischief Makers Update! ✨

Hey all.....

We wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes update as we get ready for the upcoming term and our move into our new home.

But..... first things first.... I so hope everyone is safe and was able to stay cool today!!! Let's all keep our toes and fingers crossed, our firefighters catch a break and get some rest tonight!!!

Back to the update... We’ve been packing, planning, dreaming, and prepping like crazy… but we hit a small hiccup. Settlement isn’t until January 16th, and until then, the current owners don’t want us painting or changing anything. They also still have a lot of stuff here that we are trying to work around. So for now, we’re a little limited in what we can do — but trust us, the ideas are flowing. We so believe in 'putting your dreams out there and the universe will help make it happen!' - an with lots of community help too I imagine! hee hee. A great example is Miles since little has always wanted a tennis court or sports court - well we now have a tunnel that is the perfect volleyball court and badminton court, etc!!!! Great dreaming, Mr Miles!!!! I also love living near water and smelling the fresh breeze from it - well we so have it with Silvan Dam across the road and every day we get the beautiful smells coming across. Wahoooooo! Now we need a really high tree house so we have lakeside views!

Meanwhile, we’ve been deep in problem-solving mode with the hothouse tunnels. Mornings and evenings? Absolutely magical. Afternoons? 🥵 Let’s just say one friend suggested we open a hammam (wet sauna)… which gives a pretty accurate picture of how hot it gets!

Jasp and Miles have been absolute legends, laying giant covers over the tunnels. This has involved hours of shooting balls tied to strings across the full length of the tunnels just to get ropes in place so we can try pulling the big covers over the top.
Equal parts fun, chaos, and creative problem-solving 😄

Winnie has also been heavily involved — generally supervising from the top of anything we attempt to move.

We’ve trialled a couple of evening group catch-ups, and oh my goodness… pure magic ✨ Fairy lights glowing, one tunnel turned into a badminton/volleyball court, table tennis, endless hide-and-seek (soon to be epic Nerf battlefields), and a beautiful open space perfect for a fire at night. Add to that nearly ¾ of an acre under cover if the weather turns, and an overall magical, market-style feel that we’re completely in love with.

And the best part?
Everyone who walks in comes alive with ideas within about 15 minutes. It’s magical… and a little confusing in the very best way 😄

Some of the latest ideas include:
• Giant 9-metre white tables for screen printing
• Bell tents and mini camps
• A teen tunnel
• A pottery tunnel
• And (dream big, right?) an indoor container pool for swimming lessons and rehab!!!

Yes — if anyone happens to have contacts for a free container pool or rehab pool, please yell out. 😆

One of the most beautiful, unexpected things has been the response from our neighbours at Silvan Glades Retirement Village. The residents are at the gate daily, asking when they can start coming over to garden, craft with the kids, and simply hang out with the local community.

It’s already clear this space is going to create layers of connection, friendship, mentoring, and genuine community — across generations. That part alone feels incredibly special. 💛

Behind the scenes, Jasp has also laid flooring for a brand new gym space (we were so blessed to have a dear friend donate gym equipment 💛), creating a great option for homeschoolers who want to train in between workshops.

Miles has been up on top of the tunnels checking out best way to get additional covers across, rearranging plants and helping wherever he can.

We were also thrilled to be donated over 300 beautiful pots from a beautiful family in our community who closed a business a little while back, meaning when we run plant, permaculture, and growing workshops, kids will have gorgeous pots to take their plants home in — and that’s just the beginning.

Our hope is that within the next two weeks, we’ll be fully set up with at least one cool tunnel ready for workshops, and we’ll be raring to go. Once we’re in, we’ll be running workshops, events, birthday parties — and dreaming of the occasional homeschool or local market with music, food, and all the good vibes.

We honestly cannot thank people enough for the support so far. Taking on something this big as a single homeschooling mum with two boys has been a little terrifying - but in usual form, we are so excited and just cannot wait. This place is already alive with possibility (probably too many options!!), and it’s going to be epic.

We’re still on the lookout for:
• Fake grass for comfy tunnel floors
• Clever cooling ideas for commercial-sized poly tunnels
* Good soil by the trailer load
* Lots of fruit trees or nice plants, if anyone has one or two spare. We are hoping to make the tunnels like an edible wonderland for everyone, surrounded by flowers!!!

If anyone in the field has advice or contacts, we would absolutely love to hear from you. We’ve got more ideas up our sleeve — and once we’re allowed to do more, we know we’ll have it sorted.

January 16th — it’s ours.
And then? Bring on the party! 🎉🌿
