Spring has arrived in the Zen Garden, and our bonsai are beginning to wake up and put on some beautiful new growth.

🌿 Rosemarie’s Bougainvillea Bonsai Journey – August 2026
Bambino Maudi has taken a BIG step forward this month! 🌸

After a month of strong growth and some beautiful rich purple flowers, it was finally time to move my Bougainvillea into a proper bonsai pot.

Choosing the pot wasn't nearly as easy as I thought it would be! I had a particular metallic blue pot in mind, but after searching locally and online, I couldn't find quite what I was looking for.
Then I remembered a charcoal grey pot I'd bought about three years ago for another tree. It had been sitting in the cupboard waiting for the right bonsai and I think Bambino Maudi was exactly the tree it was waiting for. 💙

The repot was done on the very last day of August, including an approximately 60% root reduction. With the help of Keith S., President of the Bimer Bonsai Club, I was able to work through the process and get Bambino firmly secured in her new home.
Now comes the hard part... waiting! 🌱

I'm giving her time to settle, develop new roots and recover before I start feeding again.
