Social media: neglected. Real life creativity: thriving 😬

What will colour look like in 2028 and beyond?

That’s the question myself and my colour-loving colleagues from around the Asia Pacific region have been discussing (and debating!) for the last two days 🎨

I’ve been helping lead the discussion and creation of future colour forecasts with my Color Marketing Group colleagues from Singapore, China, Taiwan, Hawaii and Canada over the last few days and it’s been a blast!

Why are we so afraid to design our homes for ourselves?

You love the blue splashback tile.

You can’t stop thinking about the pink sink.

The olive green lounge would make your heart sing.

But instead, you worry:
– What if someone else hates it?
– What will people think?
– What about resale value?

Here’s the thing: your home is for you. Not future buyers. Not your neighbour. Not your sister-in-law.

It should reflect your taste, your season of life, and how you live in it.

We have two daughters under 5. Our dining table is pushed up against the wall, with most of the chairs packed away — because this is the season of fort-building and magnetic tile towers, not fancy dinner parties.

My husband and I both work from home. So we turned our sitting room and guest room into offices. Why preserve a space for guests we host twice a year, when we need functional, beautiful workspaces every day?

Your home should adapt to you. Not the other way around.

Would you judge a friend for painting their lounge room lilac? Would you question their values because they picked a mint green kitchen or swapped out a bedroom for a walk-in-closet? Of course not.

So why do we second-guess ourselves?

If that pink sink will make you smile every morning — buy the damn sink.

Maybe one day someone else won’t love it. That’s their problem to solve.

Right now? It’s your home. Your life. Your joy.

Hello July: Nesting Season

Midwinter invites us to retreat inward — to slow, soften, and lean into the comfort of the everyday. This month is all about rich, grounding tones and layered warmth. Mulberry and burgundy, deep ochres and soft creams. Colours that feel like candlelight and mulled wine and the quiet glow of dusk through timber-framed windows.

We’re styling with warmth in every sense — warm-toned woodgrains, worn red brick, natural fibres underfoot. Think chunky knit blankets, plaid throws, and soft, brushed cotton bedding. A home that holds you gently.

Crisp mornings call for chunky jumpers, thick socks, and steaming mugs of warm spiced chai. It’s the season for curling up in a favourite chair, book in hand, wrapped in something soft and familiar.

It doesn’t take a full makeover to feel the shift. Add a cushion or two in a deeper hue, a seasonal bunch of native florals on the table, a textured throw that invites pause. These small, intentional touches turn your home into a place to rest and restore.
