I had a sneaking suspicion that an air pocket had formed, I could see a slight dip in the surface near the wick, but decided to go ahead with test burning 😟
Next time I’ll listen to that inner voice shall I !? 🤔
What I am doing is testing a new vessel for an upcoming candle launch. I test all my vessels that will become candles as I need them to perform perfectly.
The wax needs to perform with the fragrance oil, and they both need to perform together with the wick.
If one of the three decides to throw a tantrum, the entire candle goes back to the drawing board 💡
What I have done in the last image is force holes in and around the wick using a wooden skewer. This more or less is inserting holes within and around the air holes that are trapped under the neat surface you see, so that when I reheat the surface with a heat gun to make the surface liquify, the now melted surface wax will drip into the poked holes, filling up the unwanted hidden air pockets.
Test two begins tomorrow!
