Some stories don't begin with a business plan or a showroom. Ours began on a loom in Bhadohi, India.

For four generations, my family has dedicated their lives to the craft of handwoven rugs. From my great-grandfather being a weaver himself, to my grandfather taking our rugs from Bhadohi to Europe, to my father who still works alongside our artisans every day. Each generation protected the craft and carried it forward.

For a long time those rugs reached the world under other labels. House of Bohi is my way of continuing the work in Australia under our own name, without losing the people, the process, or the heritage behind each piece.

These photographs are more than family memories. They're the story behind House of Bohi and every rug we create.

A rug may be chosen for how it looks, but successful specification goes well beyond aesthetics.

The fibre and construction need to suit the way the space will be used. Scale and shape should respond to the furniture and architecture. Colour must work not only with the palette, but also with light, traffic and everyday maintenance.
