It’s been a little while, and there are a lot of new faces here, so it feels like the perfect time for a proper hello.

I’m Lydia—maker, mama, and lover of slow things.
I started Hilo & Bobbin with a simple hope: to create pieces that feel like home. Pieces stitched not just with thread, but with memory.

Somewhere between nap times, school runs, and stolen quiet mornings, this little dream of mine grew.
It slowly became something more—a space where slow making is celebrated, and every personalised cushion or linen apron is made to be part of someone’s story.

And even with my youngest soon heading off to high school, I feel more connected than ever to making with my hands and to the quiet, nostalgic beauty of creating slowly.

Thank you for being here and for letting my work find a little place in your home. It means more than you know.

This was one of the first designs—the one that took off and quietly changed everything. I still remember the feeling when it started to sell. That mix of disbelief, joy, and a little “maybe I can really do this.” 🫣

It’s a gentle reminder that slow beginnings can grow into something meaningful. And that there’s magic in florals, fabric and a stitched name.

I asked ChatGPT to turn my fabric basket photo into a storybook illustration… and somehow, it brought my daydreams to life.
The moment this picture appeared, my heart did a little flip.
It feels like a page torn from a vintage nursery rhyme—soft light, quiet warmth, and that gentle sense of home.
I can almost hear the floorboards creak and smell the sun on linen.
This little basket was always meant for a nursery like this.

This design reminds me of our little brown teddy we’ve named Coco. He’s been with us for over 16 years—cuddled, carried, and shared between both kids. His fur has thinned from love, his eye has been sewn back on, and he’s held together by little stitches and big memories. He’s probably due for a restuffing, but honestly? He’s perfect just the way he is. Some things only get more special with time. 🧸💛

Over the years, I’ve watched your little ones go from tiny newborns to curious toddlers, then big kids with their own little worlds. It’s such a privilege to create personalised, heirloom-quality pieces that stay with you through those fleeting moments—thank you for letting me be a small part of your family’s story.
