One of our favourite moments at the Dural Village Markets ? Hearing people say, “Wow, that feels beautiful!” as they touched our paper. 🤍

Our journals are made with handmade Nepalese paper, each with its own beautiful texture and feel.

That’s what makes our paper so unique. It’s boutique paper, handcrafted by artisans, unlike anything you’ll find in the general market.

Channeling all this school holiday chaos straight into our Sunday market prep! 😅
Between my 9-to-5, the final stretch of school hols with the kids, packing online orders, and getting ready for our very first stall in years at the Dural Village Markets Dural Village Markets , things are next-level busy right now.

How I manage you ask? I don't. I try to keep my expectations balanced and remember I don't need to have it all figured out. I just calm my nerves by finding a quiet moment to journal usually at night - sometimes it's a bit of writing, other times just some doodling or colouring or drawing.

Honestly, I am so excited (and a little nervous!) to share that we’re finally doing a market again. It’s been a good few years since our last one, and we've missed meeting you guys face-to-face.
If you're around, come hang out with us! It’s the ultimate excuse to come feel our paper in person, because photos honestly don't do that texture justice. You can actually flip through the journals, feel the weight of the pages, and find the one that calls to you.

The last time I visited the Dural Village Markets there was a whole lotta good food too!!

If ancient Nepal trusted this paper for royal decrees, I figured it could handle my mum's secret recipes 😅Here me out:

Did you know that back in the day, royal decrees, sacred scriptures, and even official government docs all across Nepal were written on handmade Lokta paper - yes the same paper we use across our stationery!

Turns out, the plant practically fights back 💪. It’s made from high-altitude Daphne bark, which naturally has these bitter compounds that bugs and moisture hate. That's why old historical texts have survived for centuries without getting eaten away, and why people in Nepal still use it today.

I figured if it's tough enough for official state records, it can definitely handle my kitchen 😂
That’s why I’ve been using our own LOKTAA journal to write down all my mum's Nepalese recipes. Kitchens are messy, and normal store-bought pads just yellow and fall apart - but this paper actually sticks around for the long haul.

At first glance, it looks delicate. But don’t mistake beauty for fragility. It’s gentle enough to bring peace to your evening ritual, but tough enough to outlive ordinary paper.

When the sunlight catches these pages, you can see every single wild fibre running through the sheet - raw, organic, and soft to the touch. Yet beneath that gentle deckled surface lies something remarkable: paper formed from wild bark that refuses to tear, warp, or crack under pressure.

I also find that to be an exact reflection of Nepal itself. A land breathtakingly serene and gentle in spirit, yet anchored by people whose quiet resilience runs endlessly deep. Raise your hand if you have been to Nepal or would like to visit!

You don’t need a 5-step framework, aesthetic calligraphy, or life-altering revelations to keep a journal.
We often paralyse ourselves trying to do it "right." We research prompts, buy the notebook, and then freeze - worrying that our everyday, messy thoughts aren’t profound or "pretty" enough for the page.

But the quiet truth is the page doesn’t need you to be profound or pretty.

A chaotic brain-dump counts.
Three tired sentences count.
An unedited vent about your afternoon counts!!

There is no secret technique to master. Pour your cup, crack open the cover, and write whatever is true right now. The magic is simply showing up.

I use my quiet evenings to decompress. What about you? Are you morning or evening person? Or you not there yet?

Most paper starts with cut-down trees and chemical bleach. LOKTAA paper begins on wild Himalayan slopes without felling a single tree!

Local artisans harvest only the bark of the wild Daphne bush, leaving the roots intact so the plant completely regenerates.
From there, it’s entirely made by hand: boiled, pounded with wooden mallets, lifted onto mesh screens in mountain water, and sun-dried.
The result is paper that is naturally durable, resistant to time, and directly supports the livelihoods of rural artisan families.

And almost magically, these papers are crafted into our journals. Each is unique and a masterpiece in its own right!

When you are in the thick of a heavy season, personal hurdles feel massive because they're bouncing around an already exhausted mind. The words above has pulled me through some tough times.

Writing them down doesn’t make the climb vanish overnight. But dragging a pen across a page takes the weight out of your head and puts it somewhere tangible - turning a chaotic mental loop into something you can look at honestly, breathe through, and take one step past.
