If you enjoy the slow, meditative side of foundation paper piecing, the Half Pineapple might be just your kind of block.
There’s something very satisfying about the repetition of this one. Simply cut your strips to the same width, then settle in and sew. No complicated fabric preparation, and it’s a great way to work through your scrap pile one strip at a time.
The real fun comes when the blocks are finished. Rotate and rearrange them to create numerous layouts, with secondary patterns appearing depending on how you place them. The same simple block can look completely different from one quilt to the next.
A good one for those days when you’re not in a hurry and just want to enjoy the making.
