We’ve tried the viral cooling blanket, so you don’t have to.

Typically made in 90% nylon and 10% elastane. It does feel cool when you first touch it, the same way a plastic bag feels cool. But plastic can’t breathe, so it holds the heat in. By 2am you’re either sweating or kicking it off the bed 🥲

We loved the idea though! A proper lightweight summer blanket is such a good thing to have. And we can’t seem to find similar products on the market that isn’t made with synthetic fibre.

And then the team mentioned to us that TENCEL™ is also available as a filling material, not just a fabric.

If you’ve been avoiding TENCEL™ because of “bamboo”, you’re not alone.

You probably know that most “eco-friendly bamboo” bedding is actually viscose. The bamboo plant itself is fast-growing and needs no pesticides, but the process of turning it into fibre is another story.

That heavy chemical processing is usually why people stop buying viscose. And then TENCEL™ got caught in the same net.

On paper they are the same category - Regenerated cellulose. Plant pulp, dissolved, spun back into thread.

Same category, opposite production process.

Most bamboo viscose uses carbon disulfide in an open system. TENCEL™ Lyocell uses a non-toxic solvent in a closed loop, and 99.8% of it gets captured and recycled over again.

The truth is, no fibre is perfect. We just think that everyone should get to choose based on how something’s actually made, not how it’s marketed.

Last week was a big week for us with a new order placed 🙌🏻, and we’re still processing it.

Two new solid colours, and yes, we heard you loud and clear, they’re going to be neutrals to complement our existing three. New sizes: bassinet, standard cot, single, king single and super king. A TENCEL™ blanket in three sizes, that we’ve been testing. And a pattern, in collaboration with an artist we’re a little bit obsessed with. 

We haven’t finalised on the two neutrals yet. About a dozen swatches are on their way from the factory, and we want you to choose them with us.

A little something new has arrived in store 💚💜

We’ve been quietly admiring g e o r g i a a l l e n’s pieces for a while now, so we’re really excited to finally have a small collection of her beautiful ceramics in our Balmain showroom.

Every piece is handmade by Georgia in Marrickville, with glazes she creates herself, so no two are ever exactly the same. We were instantly drawn to the fun colours, gorgeous textures and the little details that make each piece feel so special.

We only brought in a small collection, and somehow over a third of it sold before we’d even had the chance to post this!

If you’ve been meaning to pop into the store, this is your sign. Come have a browse, see them in person, they’re even more beautiful than the photos!!

Self-doubt is real when you’re running a small business. We get so much incredible feedback from our customers, and then every so often, someone we genuinely respect tells us something that’s hard to hear. All fair. None easy.

We know we’re not the brand for everyone. But here’s the tension we sit with: do you bend toward what the masses want to build something viable long-term? Or do you hold the line on what we truly believe in and trust that your people will find you?

We believe in what TENCEL™ stands for. Sustainably sourced, closed-loop production, soft, breathable, biodegradable, the whole package! We believe colour can change how a room feels, and we don’t think every bedroom needs to look the same. But we also hear you on the neutrals, a classic white has been on our minds for a while.

And the pricing thing... We’ve priced our products fairly from day one. No inflation. But watching every other brand run end-of-season sales while we hold the line isn’t always easy, it just felt like the right thing to do.

So is sticking to all of this a silly business decision?

We’ve been deep in the testing lab ever since: swatches, samples, a lot of back-and-forth with our factories.

Some of these are going to make it. Some aren’t. There are no shortcuts in the process, we’ll do our best to bring them to life as soon as we can!!
