This year, it’s brought me great satisfaction to utilise the journal space on my website to jot down longer thoughts, unfinished ideas, and all the in-between bits that don’t fit into Instagram captions.

So, to open that doorway a little wider, I’ve decided to start an occasional newsletter. Think seasonal reflections, studio notes and journal entries sent your way every now and then.

The first one will go out on June 2nd.

Join me there by subscribing via my website.

I’ve been craving a slower space lately. Somewhere outside the churn of posting and scrolling.

All jokes aside, sewing things for my kids’ birthdays is probably one of the most nourishing ways I know how to honour who they are becoming.

This year’s whirlwind involved many iterations of colour palettes, old meaningful scraps of clothing, and trying to create something that felt unmistakably like Uma in this season of her life.

I’ve jotted down some thoughts about this process - of making things that feel deeply personal.

Full musings can be found on my blog 🍂

I don’t usually lean into trending formats, but this one keeps catching my eye. And honestly, I think it’s because it feels so right for this moment in time.

Lately, we’ve been paying a lot more attention to where our money flows – and how quickly it disappears. Even living pretty simply, we feel it.

What I’ve been noticing, though, is that the less we spend, the more other kinds of abundance start to show up. The satisfaction of food that didn’t come from a shop. Treating our scraps and waste as a resource. Slowing down enough to actually notice what we already have.

I’m also very aware that our “less” is still, in many ways, so much more than enough. This kind of life rests on time, stability, and a lot of shared effort behind the scenes.

I guess what basically I’m noticing lately, is that in spending less, and engaging more, life is quietly feeling fuller than ever.

Finally, autumn is here. I sometimes feel like I wait all year for it. We’ve just landed home from a week camping - warm days, cold nights, everything cooked on the campfire. Straight back into grey skies, drizzle, and laundry drying around the hearth.

The garden’s in that in-between place; summer veg hanging on, winter seedlings getting nibbled, dahlias completely out of control.

And, as always, I’ve made a list.

When I write it all down, it does seem like a lot, but I know this is the season where it somehow all gets done; slowly, steadily, one thing after the next.

Full autumn to-do list is up on the journal.
If you feel like a longer read. I’d love to hear what’s on your list, and what might be missing from mine!

Immunity gummies (the use-what’s-in-your-fruit-bowl version)

Fruit base
~ 2 cups chopped fruit (apples, plums, pears, berries - whatever needs using)
Handful elderberries, fresh, frozen, dried
1–2 cups strong herbal tea (thyme, sage, oregano, rosemary, ginger, cinnamon etc.)
Raw honey, to taste

Make a strong herbal brew.

Stew fruit in the strained tea until soft.
Blend smooth.
Measure (around 2 cups of purée is ideal)
Sweeten a little more than you think (they taste less sweet once set).

Bloom 3 tbsp gelatin in ½ cup cool water (5–10 mins).
Gently rewarm purée (don’t boil).
Stir in gelatin until dissolved.

Pour into moulds or a dish.
Fridge 3–4 hrs.
Store in fridge up to a week.

Such a good way to use up scungy fruit while making something nutritious and delicious. Excellent lunchbox treat. Long form recipe on blog.

Last year brought growth, connection, encouragement - and some clarity I didn’t expect.

I’ve learned a lot about how I want to work, create and show up…and what it costs when the rhythm isn’t aligning.

Sharing this with a lot of gratitude and a clear intention to move forward with more balance in this year 💛

I’m in such a soft, grateful place after the holidays. So much connection, time outside, laughter, and space with my family.

While I honestly take my hat off to everyone who kept showing up here over the holidays, I’m so glad I quietly dropped the ball, because for me, less screen definitely leads to more presence. Our days were filled with river swims, beach time, garden abundant, long lazy days, silly dance routines and much laughter.

The kids are easing back into school now, and this week I’ll be back in the studio with some dedicated making time.

I’m so grateful for this little pocket of life and don’t take a moment of it for granted, especially knowing how much is heavy in the world right now.
