I can feel a new series on the horizon!

Everyday life here has given me so many chances to capture beautiful moments. There’s a rhythm to the day-to-day routine that really appeals to me, and I’d love to turn some of these images into a series.

Another day, another ranch sketch. I wonder if this one might find its way into a finished piece for the series when I get home.

Today’s quick ranch sketch from down at the round pen 🤎

I’ve been following the action with my camera and came away with so many moments I can’t wait to draw.
I’m getting the feeling I could be gathering ideas for a little Texas series to work on when I get home.

Drop a 🤠 in the comments if you guys want to see more.

But I’m pretty sure I can’t stop sketching anyway!

Loved our day at Bosque Ranch yesterday, cheering Gabs on at the Brazos Bash. I came away with a new hat to take home and a quick sketch of Scar and Ellvyra. Such a cool experience, and I’ve come home with plenty more ideas for drawings which is always a good thing!

The last few days have been a blur, from the exhibition opening straight through to Texas. Luckily Gabs didn’t get sick of us last time, and we’re back - in the saddle literally!

I’ve been wandering around like an excited puppy with my camera, taking photos of everything. There’s so much to take in, I’m a bit overwhelmed (in the best way) about where to start.
Today though, I couldn’t resist getting cracking on a couple of drawings inspired by what I’ve been seeing.

Have a look at the next clip for the view from the bunkhouse. There’s nothing like a ranch horse walking by and a pearler of a sunset from the verandah (or porch, as they say in Texas).

Wow that was great! Was amazing to be a part of this wonderful exhibition alongside such talented artists!!
Here are few quick snaps from the opening night of Vessels at Walkway Gallery Bordertown 🩷

A big thank you to Naomi for a stellar job curating the exhibition. It was lovely to step away from my studio, meet the other artists and see their beautiful work. I especially enjoyed hearing everyone speak so passionately about their practice.

I also appreciated the chance to talk about my new series and answer questions as we wandered around the gallery.

Vessels is showing now at the Walkway Gallery it is definitely worth seeing in person. We are so lucky to have this wonderful regional gallery to show our art.
But if you can’t get there to have a look you can see my works on my website. All pieces are available for sale - when I left from the opening one had found a wonderful home 🥰 and had a cheery red sticker. You’re welcome to contact me if you need any more info on any of the work. I’ll share some more detailed images in the coming days.

Tonight’s the night!

The opening of Vessels at Walkway Gallery Bordertown at 6pm along with an artist panel and Q&A
A lovely opportunity to hear more about the ideas and processes behind the exhibition and to ask us any questions.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the exhibition come together and sharing the evening with everyone. I hope to see some familiar faces there!

If you can’t make it to the exhibition, you can now view my pieces from the show on my website.

One last look before ‘Blackford Cottages’ leaves the studio tomorrow, bound for Sydney-Campbelltown Arts Centre as a finalist in the 2026 Fisher’s Ghost Art Award.

Always a nervous time when my art travels, 🤞🤞 it gets there ok. Safe travels!

In the studio at the moment thinking about this latest piece and how much I love rural buildings and their stories. They hold so much more than their physical structure. They carry traces of gatherings and generations of community life, even when they stand quietly within an almost empty landscape.

This work is not intended as an exact replica of Kingston Scout Hall. I have shifted and reimagined elements of the building and its surroundings, merging memory, place and time to create something closer to the way a familiar landscape is remembered.

Again I was drawn to the weathered corrugated iron and the rusted roof that appear in a lot of my work. Beneath the approaching sky, the building feels both vulnerable and enduring as a recognizable sight in many small rural towns.

I’ve added some process images to show you the way the piece builds up. I love working in this way, discovering the scene by drawing in charcoal and then layering oil on top. Elements of the charcoal showing through creating depth and history to the piece.

A quiet piece, a quiet moment and some very good news.

‘Seated Figure’ has been selected as a finalist in the 2026 Muswellbrook Art Prize (Works on Paper).

Drawing for me is a slow act of attention. Allowing stillness, shadow and negative space to hold presence without explanation. I’m grateful and super thrilled the work will sit within this year’s exhibition.

Thank you to the selection panel and to judge Scott Elliott, Assistant Curator of Australian Art at the Art Gallery of NSW.

The exhibition opens 21 March at Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre.
