We, 𝑫𝒆.𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔 recently designed a 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 situated in Savar, Dhaka. This duplex residence is conceived as a composition of planes, where simple white plastered volumes stand in quiet contrast to the lush surrounding green. The architecture establishes a clear hierarchy through restraint, allowing light, shadow, landscape, and void to become the primary makers of space. Rather than treating nature as an exterior backdrop, the design invites greenery into the house through a series of courtyards, blurring the boundary between built form and living landscape. The front green court acts as a welcoming threshold, opening the house to arrival and extending hospitality through its soft, generous edge. Projecting planes further reinforces this sense of invitation, guiding visitors inward. Within the house, multiple courtyards shape a layered domestic experience. The northern dry court is imagined as a more intimate realm, where diffused light and enclosure create a sense of privacy and calm. In contrast, the southern court encourages a softer, greener atmosphere through smaller plants and filtered openness. These two inner courts are separated, yet also connected, by the volumetric public zone of the house. This central living mass serves as both a divider and a mediator, ensuring the continuous flow of light and air throughout the residence. The project, therefore, is not only an arrangement of rooms but a careful orchestration of planes, courts, climate, and everyday life.
