Back in 2021, I made this circular rug out of bed sheets. At the same time, I tore strips for another mat. And so, my blue-tone rectangular mat is begun.

Inspired by my maternal grandmother, Eva, who always recycled the family materials into quilts and woven rag rugs, I’m learning how to nålbind flat. I’m glad my hand-carved lilac rug needle is sturdy!

Nålbinding yarn requires less thought about tension but cotton sheet strips are relentless in their lack of elasticity. So that I do not injure myself in a new way for a 2-foot mat, I shall learn to make looser stitches.

I was going to say something about making your own rainbows on a grey day. And then disaster struck. This project is on hold until I can order replacement parts!

This is my collection of hand carved Nåls (needles) which I use for creating my nålbound wearable art. I was having trouble remembering where I had tucked them (for safe-keeping, of course). I feel relief in having found them.

Besides, I feel a new project coming on and I needed my carpet size needle!

Here the cat is helping me show off another project keeping my hands warm and busy this week. A commission for a Hogwarts-inspired scarf. It’s 6 feet long and super thick.
