Something has been on my heart for a few days ...
I had planned that the last two weeks would be mostly spent preparing for some upcoming market events. ๐ช
However, my dear, beloved "Auntie" finally got offered a bed in a long-term care facility, something she desperately needed. As I am her main caregiver (apart from the wonderful nurses and PSWs who look after her daily care), my schedule changed to moving, packing, extra visits, and filling out many forms and taking many phone calls ... ๐
This has brought to mind that so many amazing makers and craftspeople often start a "side hustle" or small business because they need flexibility while they care for special needs children or other family members, aging parents or other relatives. Or, maybe they are caring for themselves due to chronic illness, injury, or recovery from addiction. When you purchase even a small item from someone at a market, it is impossible to calculate the true cost of time and effort that has gone into its creation. ๐ฉท
I want to acknowledge and honour all the talented makers and craftspeople out there who show up everyday, even though they feel like they are weeks behind schedule and can't keep up. Your dedication to your family and yourself has not gone unnoticed. You are all heroes to me! ๐
The words of Lady Julian of Norwich have been going through my head today, and I hope they help you, too, "All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well." ๐ฆ
๐ท A bee buzzing around my comfrey patch this morning, doing its thing and staying present. ๐
