This theory about Popeye is wild. Apparently, the sailor man wasn't getting his strength from spinach, but from "Pervitin,"a military-grade methamphetamine given to the US Navy sailors, and the whole cartoon was a dark depiction of a veteran dealing with PTSD. The details are deep from his tattoos to Olive being a psychiatric nurse trying to contain him. Folks online are saying this makes too much sense. 👀
