I shipped this box to Ontario today. Funny part is, the walnut and curly maple wood I made it with both came from Ontario in the first place. 😁

This bench was too tall when I first delivered it. This caused excessive leverage on the front of the bench, and despite being glued and screwed together, it snapped at the lever point. It is now re-glued, with 12 inch GRK fasteners for extra strength, and has been lowered 2 inches to alleviate some of the stress on the top.
Perfection is a process. You can’t always get it right, but at least do your best to fix your oopsies. 😜
Plus, Eden at Rusty Rooster Life•Style said she was gonna buy me a pint or two for my efforts. 🍻🤩

My first attempt at making wooden kitchen utensils. Turned out better than I expected. 😎

My friend’s father is slowing down his woodworking and brought me 75 BF of walnut he milled in Ontario 25-30 years ago and it’s been in his wood shop stash ever since. The board in front is how it looked when I got it, and the rest of the pieces are after milling. Very nice wood indeed. Will make some beautiful keepsake boxes. 😁

Edit: I just heard from him. He actually bought that walnut 35 years ago, and was told it had been harvested at least 100 years before that. Seems I’ve got some 135+ year old walnut wood. 😎

Finally had the time to finish up this order for a nice guy in Courtenay. 4 monstrous elevated garden planters for his yard. (1 already delivered) Gotta deliver the rest before I can use my shop again. 🤪
Next on the list is a few keepsake boxes, a hardwood “Bo” (Japanese staff weapon) and then another 7 planter boxes.
But first, it’s b**r o clock. 🍻

I started this project a few months ago. Got busy with all kinds of other things and it got left in the corner waiting patiently to be finished. Now it is finally done.

It’s a solid trellis for the red and green grapes to grow above the blueberry bushes. 😛
