So I'm attempting to fire a few pots in this old wood furnace instead of my usual pit firing. I'm anxious to see what results I get. Stay tuned.

So I'm trying my pit fire in our old outdoor wood furnace that use to heat our shop instead of digging a pit in the ground. Fingers crossed for great colours and results

I haven't done much posting here this summer with my pottery but it doesn't mean I haven't been in my studio playing. Between camping, spending time with friends and family, especially my 2 grandkids this summer, I have managed to sneak into my studio to create some new projects for this Christmas Open House. Plus with the sculpture class I'm teaching at the Brantford Potters Guild this fall, I have new pieces from the class I created as my demos. Right now Im working on an order for sea turtle mugs for Christmas then onto my camper mugs. Watch for post on the date for the open house this November.

Its been a warm summer so far but luckily its comfortable in here. I've been busy again in the shop mixing new glazes and getting ready for a glaze firing.

I had to share this moment. My 3.5 year old granddaughter Nella asked if she could try the wheel this past Vicyoria weekend in my studio. I was so excited, pleased and proud to experience it with her. You can see how focused she was from beginning to end. She so loved the experience. I may have a partner joining me in my shop with her creations this xmas. :)

Years ago my dad was carving waterfowl using bass wood and I decorated them. Sad to say I wished I had kept 1 of each but they were either sold or given as gifts. When he passed I kept his file with his patterns and decided to recreate some by hand building with clay. This merganzer was my 3rd to recreate with clay. I already have done a loon and wood duck.
