Sea glass experiment!

Ive been wanting to try melting sea glass into my pottery since I started making pottery. And when I bought my own little kiln I thought it was the perfect opportunity to give it a try.

It worked! The bowl ended up a bit on its side, so it isn't perfectly melted onto the bottom, but other than that, it did what I expected it to! Definitely doing it again!

I took the next step in my pottery journey - the purchase of this mini tabletop kiln from .ca She doesn't hold a lot, measuring about 5 inches square of usable space, but she is mighty and getting the job done! (Eileen and fireplace for size refer3nce!)

It's definitely a huge learning curve. This kiln doesn't have all the fancy programmable bells and whistles of a larger kiln, but its teaching me so much about the firing process. Ive had a handful of successful hauls and can't wait to keep creating .

We were given a bakeware challenge
I made a mini loaf pan and had to try my favourite banana bread recipe (p. 114 in Better Homes and Gardens) in it. It turned out perfectly 👌 This was my trial run for a full size pan. I don't think I'll get it done in time for judging, but that's ok. It'll get done when it gets done ✔️

I'm delighted with how this paint water and brush holder turned out. I made myself one awhile ago and have been loving it so much that I thought I'd make some more to have available at our May 3rd pottery sale

A favourite from today's kiln haul

Getting ready for my first market of the year, which isn't until May 3rd, but pottery takes time and patience! Pieces don't always come out of the kiln as expected. Thankful this one did!
