So much of weaving for me, is experimenting. I had this red warp in my stash for about a year because I didn’t know what to do with it. The yarn was super fine, so I was a little intimidated and it usually takes me a bit to think on things before deciding to just go for it. After all, the world won’t end if I mess up and I’ll likely learn something!

The red yarn (warp) is wool and was used for both scarves. The first scarf was woven with a wool blend pine green yarn that was also in my stash. The red scarf took a bit more work. I love red and wanted to keep that colour theme in the next scarf. So, I hand painted some white Tencel yarn in shades of red before weaving this one.

They both turned out so much better than I expected! 😁

Yay! Nine more colourful tea towels! Made from cotton and linen, they are super absorbent, soft and a delight to use. They are generously sized (sizes vary slightly—see photos for details), and are already preshrunk and ready to go. Machine wash and dry.

Here’s the newest set of cheery, colourful tea towels! I had actually wanted to do a different weave on these, but I messed up the pattern and it didn’t work out. So, I did another sample, correctly this time, and decided it wasn’t a great weave structure to use for tea towels.

Finally, I wove these up and they turned out so pretty. The colours are vibrant and cheerful and they are extra large at approximately 20.5” W x 26.5” L (already prewashed and preshrunk). These towels are so soft and absorbent, and are beautiful to display.

The next set of tea towels is almost ready to go! This time I’ve made up seven generously-sized towels in a range of patterns and fun colour combinations. (Weaving wearing my uniform of choice — my nightie and housecoat 😄) Stay tuned for the reveal!
