*New Product*
I've been testing out a new tool I have... fabric stiffening spray! I wanted the curls of the macrame cord to really pop.

The mini hanging on the left was my first attempt. I unwound the cords first, then sprayed the fabric stiffener, then blow-dried it. And.. it's.. well.. It needed some improvement to say the least haha.

In the second attempt, I started with the stiffening spray, then let it hang to dry overnight, then uncoiled the cords in the morning. It was SO satisfyingly to unwind those crunchy curls!

I've got a few different styles I want to test out with this stiffening spray. More pics will come soon as I try some new things out.

Orders are open! I only have a few spots for custom orders, so DM me fast before my spots run out.

If you want a coaster, DM me for details! Local orders have free shipping.

Part 2 of My Beginnings
It took me a month or so to start using it that first spool. I had just had a baby, and was so caught up in motherhood I felt like I was starting to lose sight of who I was as an individual. My husband and I decided that he'd take the baby for an hour every day. So I used that hour to watch & follow along with YouTube tutorials to make my own macrame pieces. It was so relaxing, and enjoyable to create on my own.

I didn't have a rod for a wall hanging... so I made one out of the inner tubes of the biodegradable doggy bags that we use to throw away our baby's dirty diapers. I glued 3 of those inner tubes together, and made my first macrame wall hanging. It's so cute! I hung it above our bed, and I'm definitely keeping it forever.

This picture is that very same first one, and yes if you look closely, you can probably see the hot glue I used to put those 3 inner tubes together. It's not perfect, but it's mine & I love it.

After that I decided to buy my own wooden dowels. With those, I made a wall hanging as a birthday gift to one of my sister's. I started seeing the patterns, and designing my own. Then I made another wall hanging as a wedding gift for my other sister.

After that, I made a heart coaster, and a spiral coaster, and I spiraled my spool until it was completely gone. So I figured I would buy another spool cause there was no way I was just going to stop there.

Now here I am, with a goal of making 100 coasters. (I've got 32 completed as of last night). 🎉

So there's my beginnings, and it all started from a Christmas gift back in grade 4.

What was your favorite Christmas Gift from growing up?

Part 1 of My Beginnings
It was around grade 4 that I started doing macrame. Although I didn't know that's what it was called then. I knew this knot tying fun to be called making friendship bracelets.

I got a friendship bracelet making kit for Christmas one year. It had cotton string spools in all sorts of colors, and a little book of instructions. I loved it so much! I would take it everywhere I went. I put the string on a safety pin which I fastened to my jeans. That way anytime I was sitting down, I could continue tying knots! I would do it during school (keeping my hands busy helped me focus) and at home, and in the van. Everywhere I went, my string would come with me.

I learned that I could swap out the string for cotton cord, and it would make it chunkier. I learned how to knot in beads of all sizes into them. I liked using shells and making them have a Hawaiian Island feel. (Now I'm married to a man born in Hawaii, so I think that's pretty funny).

At school, we would have a craft & bake sale every fall season. That's where I sold my friendship bracelets.

A few years later we made friendship bracelets in my Church Young Women's Camp. I was so excited cause I had already been making them for a long time! I helped teach the younger girls the different knots & stuff.

Then I didn't pick it up for a long time. Fast forward to last year. I saw macrame plant hangers, and wall tapestries, and wanted to make one for myself. I asked for & recieved my first spool of Macrame Cord.

✨Macrame✨
Hey there! My name is Sarah Pulotu, and I'm the creator, photographer, and designer behind

I chose the name as a play on words of my last name, Pulotu, and my love for creating spools of Macrame.

I've always loved making things with my hands, and have gotten into Macrame during the pandemic. Now I'm turning it into a business because I love it so much!

I've made wall hangings, coasters, ornaments & more.
