You know it’s a great girls’ day out when it lasts until the sun sets ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There’s something so special about one-on-one time and while the boys were at hockey, Elle and I had such a fun afternoon (which quickly turned into the evening) exploring everything Woodbend Leduc by Carrington Land has to offer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Woodbend is within walking distance of Tim Hortons, so we got our steps in with coffee in hand while exploring the trail system and local park, before doing one of our favourite things: touring some of the gorgeous show homes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then it was just a quick 5-minute drive to Leduc Common, where we got manis and pedis, enjoyed a patio dinner at Original Joe’s and had a way too successful shopping trip at Winners 😂

And of course, we had to finish the day by chasing the sunset, with the perfect view at one of Woodbend’s two ponds. 🌅

Such a beautiful day with my girl and the perfect way to take advantage of this unexpected warm weather. 🤍

Downhill karting? That’s a yes for me! 🏎️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We checked out Downhill Karting in Calgary with the kids this summer and they enjoyed it so much, we had to go back with my family. Definitely one of those Calgary activities the kids can’t stop talking about afterwards 😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You take a chairlift to the top of the hill and then race your way down a 1.8 km track with 50+ twists and turns. The karts are gravity-powered, so there’s no engine or pedals, and you control your own speed with the brake.

A few things to know before you go:

🎟️ There are various packages. We went with the 3-ride pack for $38 ($34 for kids), but next time we’ll do the 4-ride pack, which includes a digital photo.

👧 Kids’ requirements: Kids must be at least 6 years old and over 110 cm tall to ride unaccompanied. Kids 2+ and over 85 cm tall can ride tandem with an adult 18+, provided they can walk unassisted, fit a helmet and follow instructions.

Downhill Karting is for the thrill seekers! You take a chairlift to the top and then race down a 1.8 km track with 50+ twists and turns. It’s powered by gravity so there’s no engine. We had such a blast, we had to go twice this summer!

🏨 Stay at Sheraton Calgary Eau Claire
Our go-to for a Calgary stay. It’s right in the heart of downtown and makes a great home base for exploring. We love the waterslide, onsite restaurant Flower & Wolf Calgary and the fact that you can easily walk down to the river and Peace Bridge. 🧪 TELUS Spark
TELUS Spark is my rainy-day pick! A great option when the weather isn’t cooperating, with hands-on science exhibits and creative play areas.

🎡 Heritage Park
My personal favourite for a sunny day is Heritage Park . You can spend hours wandering through the historical village, riding the steam train, checking out the midway and exploring Gasoline Alley.

🦒 Calgary Zoo
Always a family favourite and easy to make into a full day. There are tons of animals to see plus kid-friendly playgrounds and activities throughout The Calgary Zoo

Okay, I swear the kids have gotten SO good at dumping the sand out of their shoes now that they know they’ll be the ones cleaning it up. 😂

I mean… if cowboy boots are involved, I’m probably saying yes 🤠

We had such a fun girls’ night out at Boots and Hearts West and stopping by the Betty pop-up was definitely a highlight!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We spun the giant wheel, took on the golf challenge (not my finest athletic moment 😂) and even walked away with a bucket hat and water bottle. Also, loved seeing the big wheel all lit up at night - such a vibe!

Another highlight? Enjoying the festival from Betty’s VIP Cabana, which had an amazing view of the stage and crowd, great eats and even better music! It was the perfect way to experience the festival and made for such a fun girls’ night out. 💃🏼🤠

Please tell me I’m not alone in the back-to-school closet chaos. 😂

We’re doing a big clean and decluttering of Elle’s room and closet and ngl, it was pretty overwhelming at first. We’ve been buying from them for years and I especially love their cozy but durable knit sweaters with the cutest designs for Em and showstopping dresses for Elle. NGL, I wouldn’t mind that corduroy skirt for myself either. 😂
