“Which styles & finishes should I choose?” - you ask.

When in doubt, I would suggest making these selections based on design styles that have looked good for a long time. Choose a preferred historic style and make your colour, style, finish, decor, furniture & layout decisions based on that style as your inspiration & influence.

When in doubt whilst selecting paint colours, I would recommend you go straight for the Historic colour palette. Trust me, you’ll still be able to find a colour to suit this era, AND you’re also ensuring the colour has stood the test of time.

What is the motive of your design project? Acknowledge the design challenge or problem. Double check if that is the actual problem, and the only problem (or can you solve a different problem, and eliminate this problem...or solve two problems with one solution?). Come up with a solution - review solution and imagine it in its various uses & potential situations. Get feedback from people experienced in the field. Get feedback from the user. Plan. Prepare. Organize your process. Execute.
