***SOLD***It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything for sale but I am selling one of my favourite pieces of furniture! It measures 52.5”W x 31”d x 30.5” h. It has huge drawers and storage, a vintage key to lock the doors and drawers. The base is painted dark teal with an antique effect that is stunning. The top is a brushed charcoal and everything was given a fresh topcoat. The details on this desk are like nothing I’ve seen before. The pictures don’t do it justice. Selling for $175.
This desk is absolutely one of a kind and I will miss it dearly! Message me if you are interested.

I’m so excited to share my finished fireplace project!!! I added a stencil to the surrounding tiles and it really turned out great. I wish I had better lighting, but it’s been raining here for days and I couldn’t wait to share!

Our Story
I am Erin Umrysh, the owner and designer of The Discovered Cupboard. The Discovered Cupboard is a home based business specializing in making old furniture new and beautiful again! I love finding treasures and bring out their hidden character. I offer refinished furniture and home decor. The Discovered Cupboard is located in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.
I have always had a need to make something creative with my hands; whether it was scrapbooking, making jewelry or painting. Make something from nothing was my creative pull. In 2008, when I moved into my first (and current home), painting Furniture soon became my real passion as it started from having a tight budget for furniture. I loved finding a good deal on Kijiji, but often found they needed some work and updating. The older, solid furniture had great design and was easily transformed with paint and some creativity.
I developed my painting skills for years in my own home and in January 2017 I decided to make it a business, so The Discovered Cupboard was created! After selling a few pieces here and there, I started having customers come to me with pieces they had for years that needed updates. Then customers started asking me to find pieces that would look similar to an inspiration picture they found on Pinterest. Before I knew it, I had a basement full of furniture and was working until midnight every night after my boys went to bed.
In July 2017, I was able to quit my full time job, live my creative dream and be a stay at home Mom with my two busy boys! With a lot of help from my husband Dave, who helps a ton with the heavy lifting, The Discovered Cupboard started growing fast! In August 2017 I started selling some of my furniture at a store called Urban Whyte in Devon, AB. The store offers such a beautiful environment of inspiring creators, that brought a whole new level of creativity to my craft.
Since starting Discovered Cupboard, I have has met the most amazing customers and new friends. They help me try new things and come up with such creative ideas to make their furniture perfect for them. I am constantly trying new painting techniques and researching new trends to bring to The Discovered Cupboard. I love that every day is different and each piece brings a new set of challenges. With such an exciting first year of business, I can only imagine what is in store for The Discovered Cupboard’s future!
Thank you so much for the interest in The Discovered Cupboard, if you have any questions about my business feel free to send me a message.
