O'er the hills I go 💙

New skies coming soon (ish)! I've been quietly working away on a handful of new paintings and am happy to say, things are coming together nicely! I'm seeing lots of colour, billowing clouds and canvases filled with those joy-splashed, breezy brushstrokes that give my skies life.

My Thanksgiving included flowers 🍁
*
Admiring the ones still hanging on, decorating with the autumn ones, planting the bulbs for the spring ones, loving them all basking in autumn light, and generally relishing how grateful I am that flowers - appreciation for and fascination with - flowers, is just part of the way I think. Part of me 🌼
*
And yes, fall leaves are basically flowers to me too 🍁

For those who 'contemplate the beauty of the earth' I give you ... 'Rosewater' ❤️
*
We're in the midst of the most beautiful time of the year here, with the sunbaked colours starting to turn and crystal clear light beaming through bright skies on cool winds. Just the 'last hurrah' glory of nature as far as the eye can see.
*
Perhaps even more powerful for me is a deep deep sense of gratitude .... appreciation ... of wonder and wisdom found on days like these and in the season of fall 🍁
*
Enjoying every possible moment!

Outward Bound 💛
*
I love love love this time of year for hikes and bikes and blustery, season-changing sky watching. I'm outside as much as possible (which is never really enough).
*
Yes, the autumn colours can be glorious, but so too is simply just getting out there - away from technology, fresh air through your lungs - and making a point of thoroughly enjoying and appreciating this season and it's place in the cycle of nature (because we all know what's on the other side of autumn ❄️)
*
With just that little bit said, I've convinced myself - off for a bit of a hike before I pick my brushes up today!

Somewhere along the way, the mail became rather disappointing.

Bills. Bank statements. The occasional leaflet promising to transform your kitchen. Nothing with heart or handwritten. And yet, there’s still something lovely about opening the mailbox and finding a card with your name on it.

Autumn feels like a good time to bring back a bit of old-fashioned correspondence. The evenings will soon be drawing in, people are settling back into their routines, and there’s more time to think about the people you don’t see nearly often enough.

A handwritten note doesn’t need a birthday or a special occasion. Send a little hello. Say thank you. Tell someone you’re thinking of them. Or write something completely unnecessary and wonderful.

Because sometimes the nicest thing to find in the post is something that isn’t asking you for money but rather saying “Hello! You matter to me and I’m thinking of you”.

Leave the road, take the trail, climb the tree, hike the hike, feel the wind, smell the air, follow the light, touch the stars, forge a path, find yourself 💙

Having an outdoorsy day and with every step along the trail further into the woods I'm reminded, reassured, restored by the beauty and power of nature. I needed this 💙

A little garden pick for you today 🌷
*
This lovely painting says so much without much fanfare - just doing its peaceful floral thing in its peaceful floral way - and would be just the sweetest touch to any room it finds a home in. Yes, the original is available! Maybe this is the one for you? ❤️
*
(have to add my promise that it's a thousand times more beautiful in person than this photo I took.)
