As AI continues to change the creative landscape, I’ve been reflecting on the things that make original art so special…
The years artists spend honing in on their unique personal style.
The walks in nature and travels that become inspiration for future paintings.
The process of creation: the sketches, the undercolour, the inking, and the countless decisions made along the way.
The joy and excitement of seeing a piece slowly come to life, and infusing that energy into each piece that’s created.
The thick, buttery oils layered onto each canvas, creating textures that catch the light and invite you to linger.
The memories, emotions, and experiences that inevitably find their way into each brushstroke.
And perhaps most importantly, the soul behind it all.
Art has always been more than decoration to me. It’s a conversation between the artist, the landscape, and the viewer. It’s a way of preserving moments, sharing emotions, and connecting with one another.
There is something so meaningful about standing in front of a piece that was created by human hands, with years of lived experience behind it.
